Chapter 92: How Could It Be Her!
“I suddenly remembered something,” Nan Shiqing’s voice was particularly heavy.
He Xia looked at her, clearly waiting for her to continue.
Nan Shiqing bit her lip. No matter how unwilling she was to speak, she couldn’t help herself. “I remember that after Mu Yinyin came out of the operating room, that President Guo rushed right over. He said a single character to Mu Yinyin, then immediately stopped and hurriedly changed his words. I think that was her title.”
He Xia’s expression grew serious at once. “What character?”
“It seemed to be… Yan?”
Yan…
Nan Shiqing frowned. “I can’t think of any renowned doctor with a title related to ‘Yan.’”
“How could there be none?” He Xia sneered coldly.
“Who?!”
“The Lord of the Underworld.”
“The Lord of the Underworld!” Nan Shiqing was utterly stunned!
How could that be possible!
“What’s so impossible about it?” He Xia gave a short, bitter laugh. “I never expected Mu Yinyin to be so capable, to actually be the Lord of the Underworld.”
“No wonder Wan Yu is so close to her!” Nan Shiqing finally understood, her entire body trembling with rage.
He Xia, too, had been suspicious these past days of Wan Yu’s closeness with Mu Yinyin.
Now, the moment Nan Shiqing mentioned that first character, she immediately guessed the truth.
Nan Shiqing shot to her feet, shaking with fury.
She had never imagined things could turn out this way!
Mu Yinyin.
Mu Yinyin.
Mu Yinyin!
Well done! This wretched woman hid it so well!
“Calm yourself first,” He Xia said again, seeing her daughter pacing furiously around the room.
But Nan Shiqing could not calm down.
She simply could not!
Neither spoke for a while, the air thick with tension, until He Xia finally broke the silence. “Steady your emotions for now. The most important thing is still to get Fu Seye to fall in love with you. Leave the rest to me. That is your only task.”
Nan Shiqing said nothing, biting her lip. As reluctant as she was, she had no other options now.
After a pause, she looked to He Xia again. “So what do you plan to do? Talk it over with Uncle?”
“Yes, I’ll let him know first. He always has ideas—let’s see what he comes up with.”
Nan Shiqing gritted her teeth. “Today, when I found out Mu Yinyin was a doctor, I was shocked. But I noticed Fu Seye wasn’t surprised at all.”
He Xia’s gaze darkened. “I heard he was present during Old Master Lu’s surgery.”
Nan Shiqing’s fists clenched instantly. “No wonder! No wonder he’s been acting so strange! No wonder! No wonder!”
The president of Starry Group, and now the formidable Lord of the Underworld!
Mu Yinyin had suddenly become dazzling beyond compare.
While she, in the blink of an eye, seemed utterly worthless.
“Calm down, Shiqing. Things may not be as bad as you think. Remember, they’re divorced. Fu Seye also has his pride. Even if Mu Yinyin is impressive now, you know how many men hover around her—do you really think Fu Seye would like such a frivolous woman?”
Nan Shiqing hesitated, lips parted but speechless, realizing her mother’s words made sense.
Seeing this, He Xia’s tone softened. “Shiqing, the more critical the moment, the more you must keep your composure. If you lose your head now, do you know what the consequences will be?”
Nan Shiqing gave a bitter smile. “What don’t I know? Our company will be gone, Fu Seye won’t care about me, and we’ll be sent packing, humiliated and penniless.”
Her voice dripped with irony.
He Xia sighed. “That’s right. So you must steady yourself, or we won’t be able to bear the consequences.”
Nan Shiqing clamped her jaw shut, refusing to speak.
…
Two days passed in a row.
Mu Yinyin’s life continued as usual.
At the moment, she was in her office handling work when her phone chimed with a WeChat notification. She opened it absentmindedly.
It was a message from her assistant, Meng Tao.
—Meng Tao: “President Mu, the meeting starts in fifteen minutes.”
—Mu Yinyin: “Understood.”
She raised her hand to massage her temples, gave instructions for a few tasks, and headed to the meeting room.
This meeting was one she had initiated.
By the time she arrived, everyone was already present.
Luo Gang’s expression was particularly unpleasant. Ever since Mu Yinyin’s return, he had been openly defiant. Of course, he’d never been truly convinced by Jiang Ling either, but Jiang Ling’s leadership was undeniable, and he had the respect of the staff, so Luo Gang couldn’t cause trouble.
But now, with a woman in charge, all his grievances had surfaced.
After Mu Yinyin sat down, she moved straight to the point, her manner cool and aloof.
The agenda focused on ongoing projects—nothing new—so there were no disagreements, and as everyone finalized the upcoming tasks, thinking the meeting was about to end, Mu Yinyin’s voice suddenly deepened.
“Recently, I’ve become aware of some issues that I need to share with you.”
The shareholders all turned to her, puzzled.
Only Jiang Ling and a few others seemed unsurprised—they had discussed this in advance.
“There is a mole in our company. I don’t yet know who it is, but I hope everyone will be extra vigilant in your work. Don’t let the mole steal any critical information.”
A stunned silence fell over the room. Clearly, no one could believe what they’d just heard—some shareholders even repeated the words under their breath, “A mole?”
Although many companies suffered from leaks, Starry Group had always been clean, without any major incidents, steadily progressing. To suddenly be told of a mole was difficult to accept.
Luo Gang’s expression shifted, then he frowned deeply and spoke up. “President Mu, you’ve barely been here a few days and already make all decisions on your own. Now you’re sowing suspicion and discord. Don’t you think this is too much?”
He spoke harshly, having never respected Mu Yinyin, nor having suffered from her tactics. To him, she was just a young girl, nothing to fear.
Mu Yinyin slowly turned to him, eyes glinting with a half-smile. “Why are you so nervous, Mr. Luo?”
Luo Gang’s expression grew unpleasant. “What do you mean by that?!”
Mu Yinyin’s lips curled faintly. “Nothing. It’s just that, while everyone else is carefully considering who the mole might be, you alone seem flustered and angry, as if you’ve been exposed.”
