Chapter 69 You Are Not Welcome Here
Mu Yinyin’s expression changed slightly, but she still spoke softly, “Jiang Ling, I can manage by myself…”
Her voice remained weak, and everyone could clearly hear the strain in her words.
“Is there a car down here? Can we get out from anywhere else?” Jiang Ling’s voice was steady, but those who knew him could sense the urgency beneath his calm.
“Yes! Yes! This way!” A staff member suddenly spoke up, pointing in a direction.
Jiang Ling immediately followed, and as he did, he lowered his gaze gently to look at Mu Yinyin. “Yinyin, now isn’t the time to push yourself. Close your eyes and rest—I’m here.”
His voice was as tender as it could be.
Fu Siya’s eyes darkened, moonlight pouring over his face, shrouding him in shadow.
Mu Yinyin abruptly fell silent. The truth was, her whole body ached, not a single spot felt unscathed. Her earlier effort to stand had been sheer willpower alone. Perhaps with Jiang Ling, Li Chuan, and Gu Xiaoqi there, her resolve finally gave way, and she fainted on the spot.
“Yinyin!” Jiang Ling’s face changed dramatically.
Gu Xiaoqi’s expression shifted as well. “Quick! Hurry! Get her to a hospital!”
Li Chuan said nothing, but stayed close to Jiang Ling, clearly standing guard over his friend.
“Sister…” Nan Shiqing called, then she and He Xia hurried to Mu Yinyin’s side, deep concern evident in their eyes.
Gu Xiaoqi was far too worried about Mu Yinyin’s condition to pay any attention to the mother and daughter.
As for Fu Siya—
He too had unconsciously followed.
…
An hour later.
Hospital.
Wan Yu had already arrived.
Her steps were hurried.
The people waiting in the corridor all turned their eyes toward her, drawn mainly by the crisp sound of her heels on the floor.
Nan Shiqing and He Xia exchanged surprised glances—why was Wan Yu here?
Mu Yinyin’s accident, while not a secret, was only known to those closest to her.
So… how could Wan Yu and Mu Yinyin be so close?
At the last banquet hosted by Old Madam Lu, Wan Yu had stayed with Mu Yinyin almost the entire time, and now her anxious expression made them wonder how Mu Yinyin could know her!
Nan Shiqing clenched her fists, struggling to keep herself calm.
Seeing the group waiting outside, she quickly stepped forward, looking at Gu Xiaoqi and asking, “Where is Yinyin? How is she?”
Gu Xiaoqi paused, then answered quietly, “She’s already been admitted. The doctors are still conducting further examinations.”
Wan Yu’s face was especially grim. She glanced at the mother and daughter sitting on the corridor bench and asked in a low voice, “What exactly happened?”
Jiang Ling spoke slowly, “Two cars attacked from either side, deliberately causing harm, driving Yinyin off a cliff.”
“Deliberate harm?!” Wan Yu’s expression grew even darker.
Even Fu Siya suddenly looked up at Jiang Ling.
Nan Shiqing and He Xia’s lashes trembled, but in the next moment, He Xia jumped up, incredulously exclaiming, “Someone deliberately tried to hurt Yinyin?! How could that happen?!”
Jiang Ling cast a long look at the deeply worried He Xia and said calmly, “The police have already been notified.”
He Xia nodded immediately. “Yes! The police must be called! This sort of thing can’t be tolerated! We live in a society governed by law—how could anyone dare do something like this?!”
Gu Xiaoqi bit her lip, glaring at He Xia with undisguised hostility, finally unable to hold back. “Exactly! Whoever did this deserves punishment from heaven—may they be struck by lightning, hit by a car, choke while eating, drown while drinking! After all the evil they’ve done, retribution will surely come!”
He Xia: “…”
Nan Shiqing: “…”
Both their expressions shifted subtly, but were quickly masked.
Seeing Gu Xiaoqi still fixed on them, Nan Shiqing resisted the urge to retort, took a deep breath, and sobbed, “My sister is so pitiful, how could something like this happen to her… Who knows what will become of her?”
Gu Xiaoqi sneered, “Do you really want her to be okay?”
Everyone was already worried, and now this mother and daughter duo had stepped right into the line of fire. Gu Xiaoqi could hardly restrain her urge to tear into them!
“President Gu.” Fu Siya’s face suddenly darkened.
Gu Xiaoqi turned to Fu Siya, her sneer cold. “President Fu, do you think I shouldn’t speak this way about your fiancée?”
Fiancée.
Gu Xiaoqi deliberately emphasized those three syllables.
Nan Shiqing’s gaze paused, immediately shifting to Fu Siya, only to see his brows furrowed, his expression deeply displeased.
Nan Shiqing drew a quick breath and hurried to explain, “President Gu, you’re mistaken. My relationship with my sister has always been good. She may have misunderstood me recently, but of course I hope she’ll be well!”
Gu Xiaoqi laughed in disbelief, “Utterly hypocritical!”
She turned away, refusing to give Nan Shiqing another glance.
Wan Yu sized up the mother and daughter, her tone detached. “Yinyin is straightforward—she would never wrongly accuse someone without reason. The so-called misunderstanding you mention is likely something else entirely.”
Nan Shiqing quickly shook her head, feigning innocence. “No, it’s not like that, I…”
Before she could finish, Wan Yu cut in coldly, “You’re not welcome here. Leave.”
Nan Shiqing: “!!!”
Wan Yu was formidable, with a strong background, but Nan Shiqing herself was the daughter of the Mu family, a person of status. Many had sought her favor in the past.
But… what was Wan Yu’s relationship with Mu Yinyin, that she could drive her out so directly?
Her anger threatened to boil over, but Nan Shiqing dared not reveal it. She feigned deep concern, shaking her head, “No, I won’t leave. No matter what, I won’t go today. I’ll wait for my sister to wake safely. Please, I’ll stay further away if you want—just don’t force me out.”
Her demeanor was as humble as could be. After a pause, she turned to Fu Siya, tears streaming from her eyes. “Siya, please speak to them—don’t let them drive me away, alright…?”
Her voice was earnest and pleading.
Fu Siya’s face remained grim, and he said nothing.
He Xia’s gaze darkened slightly. She glanced at Fu Siya, then hurried to pull Nan Shiqing close. “Don’t cry, dear. You just got out of the hospital, and the doctor warned you not to let your emotions be affected, especially not to cry. Your sister hasn’t come out yet—don’t frighten me, both of you must be well, do you understand?”
Fu Siya’s eyes flickered, then he finally spoke in a low voice, “I’ll stay here for you. You should go home and rest.”
