"Mu Yinyin!" Fu Siyue immediately barked coldly, "Is this how you speak to your elders?!"

His gaze was dark and oppressive as he looked at Mu Yinyin, clearly displeased with her behavior.

Old Master Fu's expression also turned completely grim; he obviously hadn't expected Mu Yinyin to dare contradict him in this way.

Even Liang Min was momentarily stunned.

But before she could recover enough to defend Mu Yinyin, Mu Yinyin suddenly let out a cold laugh. She didn't spare Fu Siyue a single glance, her eyes instead fixed icily on Old Master Fu.

"Do you really think I wanted to come here? Do you think I enjoy your constant insinuations every time?"

Old Master Fu's face grew even gloomier, a brooding air emanating from him.

Yet Mu Yinyin showed no trace of fear.

A flicker of surprise flashed across Fu Siyue’s eyes. If she offended his grandfather, there would be no possibility left between them. What exactly was Mu Yinyin up to?

In that moment, he suddenly decided not to intervene. Instead, he wanted to see what else Mu Yinyin would say.

For once, grandfather and grandson had the same thought. Old Master Fu, seething with anger, nodded repeatedly. "Fine, go on. Let's hear what more you have to say—how much resentment have you been storing up all these years!"

Mu Yinyin sneered, a look of deep disdain flashing in her eyes. "Resentment? Hardly. I endured it before because I loved Fu Siyue. For his sake, I was willing to tolerate and accept everything."

Fu Siyue’s eyes darkened abruptly. She’d said “before”—so now, since she dared to speak out, did it mean she no longer loved him?

Heh—

This woman really knew how to play her cards.

Did she think he’d believe her?

Liang Min's face changed at once, her heart skipping a beat.

She didn’t care if Mu Yinyin contradicted the old man; what terrified her was the implication of Mu Yinyin’s words. Instinctively, she spoke up. "Yinyin... what do you mean by that? You loved him before—what about now?"

Fu Siyue’s gaze sharpened, but he remained silent, his piercing eyes locking onto Mu Yinyin.

The three of them—rarely—were all looking at her.

Mu Yinyin never imagined that one day, at the Fu family’s old mansion dining table, she would become the center of attention. If Fu Siyue’s parents had been present, they would surely be watching her too.

She paused, then turned her eyes to Liang Min, a faint smile on her lips. "Grandmother, whatever happens, you will always be my grandmother. I will always regard you as my family."

Only.

When Fu Siyue heard that single word, he suddenly let out a mocking laugh, his gaze laced with endless irony. "Is this your new trick?"

"Yinyin..." Liang Min's face changed completely. "What do you mean by that?"

Mu Yinyin’s eyes flickered, but she looked straight at Fu Siyue.

"I've always been clear about gratitude and resentment. On all those countless nights you abandoned me, it was Grandmother who encouraged me, protected me, treated me like her own granddaughter, never looking at me with the prejudice others showed. Fu Siyue, my heart isn’t as hard as yours, so please don’t judge me by your own standards."

"Mu Yinyin." Fu Siyue’s face was dark and menacing, his gaze full of warning.

Mu Yinyin understood, but she didn't care.

She sneered and said directly, "So be it. Sooner or later everyone would know—why not just say it now? That way, everyone can have peace of mind. Isn’t that right, Chairman Fu?"

As she finished, her gaze fell coldly on Old Master Fu, her address as frigid and formal as possible.

Old Master Fu’s face was icy. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I’ve already signed the divorce agreement with Fu Siyue. Just one final procedure, and we’ll be officially divorced. From now on, I won’t stand in the way of him marrying someone else, nor will I hinder the granddaughter-in-law you favor from entering the Fu family."

Liang Min grew anxious at once. She stared at Mu Yinyin, her voice frantic. "Yinyin... No, this can't happen! Fu Siyue, you brat! Do you really have to be so heartless? If Yinyin truly agrees to divorce you, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life!"

She knew Mu Yinyin’s character all too well. Once she was truly heartbroken and despairing, there would be no turning back. If she was willing to give up now, and Fu Siyue really agreed, then the two of them were finished for good!

If only Fu Siyue could realize his mistakes now and treat Mu Yinyin well, there might still be hope.

A girl as outstanding as Yinyin would be nearly impossible to find again. Besides, her heart and eyes were filled only with Fu Siyue—not his power or status.

Liang Min was certain: even if Fu Siyue were left penniless, Mu Yinyin would remain by his side, never abandoning him. A girl like that was a rare treasure indeed.

But!

Such a wonderful girl!

Fu Siyue was going to lose her!

Lose her!

Liang Min wished she could rush over and give Fu Siyue a good beating!

Mu Yinyin curved her lips slightly, looking at Liang Min. "Grandmother, this marriage—I must end it. I know you’ll be heartbroken, but you’ve seen for yourself these past years: there’s no possibility of love between Fu Siyue and me. Divorcing him isn’t just fulfilling his wish—it’s also... fulfilling mine."

Those last three words drifted from her lips, light as air, as if she had finally exhausted all her strength, her last act of defiance.

Fu Siyue’s pupils contracted sharply, his hands unconsciously clenching into fists.

Old Master Fu frowned, as if studying Mu Yinyin. After a pause, he spoke in a low voice, "Are you serious?"

Mu Yinyin’s lips curled faintly. She didn’t hesitate. "Yes. I always keep my word. If you’re worried I’ll change my mind, I can stay here tonight and you can personally witness Fu Siyue and me registering the divorce tomorrow at the civil affairs bureau."

She was determined. She had told Liang Min earlier that she had something important to do, but in truth, she had nothing planned—she was willing to stay the night as long as she could get the divorce.

Fu Siyue was so angry he laughed. Staying here meant he’d have to stay as well, and his grandmother would spend the whole night persuading them. She was putting on a show of magnanimity, staying for her grandmother’s sake. Mu Yinyin really was a master at playing her cards.

"Yinyin, think it over. Please think it over again—divorce is a lifelong matter..." Liang Min was beside herself with worry. Perhaps she was the only one in the room who could see that Mu Yinyin’s heart was truly dead.

She looked at the grandfather and grandson pair and felt even more exasperated. Unable to control herself, she landed a punch on Old Master Fu.

"It’s all your fault! All your fault! Yinyin is so wonderful—why are you always so cold and harsh with her? She’s always been filial, yet you treat her like this! How could you be so heartless!!" Liang Min was nearly shouting.

Mu Yinyin’s gaze was complicated. She watched as Old Master Fu merely dodged, neither speaking nor fighting back. She lowered her eyes and said nothing.

"And you!!" Liang Min’s tirade wasn’t finished. Her furious glare now landed on Fu Siyue. "Do you have any idea how much Yinyin has done for you? You don’t cherish her, and now you stand here berating her. Don’t you think you’re being utterly unreasonable?!"
