As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere in the private room fell silent once more.

Mu Yinyin’s gaze shifted slightly before she spoke in a gentle voice, “Although I’m already divorced from him, Fu Siye is a competent businessman. If there’s a lucrative opportunity, he wouldn’t let personal matters with me get in the way. Besides, we’re representing the Starry Group—he’s not working with me directly.”

Gu Xiaoqi tilted her head and sighed, “The project in the western suburbs would indeed be a leap forward if we secure it, but I’m worried that collaborating with the Fu Group might affect you. Besides, whether we can actually land the deal is still uncertain.”

Jiang Ling lifted his hand, his fingertip lightly tracing the handsome scar by his eye, etched there by the years. “Looking at it objectively, our company has the upper hand. In terms of design and later construction, we’re better suited for this project. The key now is to find a way to negotiate with Fu Siye first.”

Gu Xiaoqi blinked. “How about I go? Both you and Li Chuan are tied up recently, and negotiating with the Fu Group requires a thick skin. With Yinyin’s situation, it’s not convenient for her to go. I’ve just wrapped up my work, so I can give it a shot.”

Although Gu Xiaoqi was the weakest among the four of them, that was only by comparison—measured against outsiders, she was formidable. Few could outmatch her in negotiations.

Mu Yinyin’s eyes flickered. If she went to Fu Siye to discuss cooperation, it would only make him more averse to the idea—he’d never agree. So, she truly couldn’t make an appearance herself.

And so, the four of them started discussing the partnership, each offering their opinions. By the time they’d finished, their meal was also done.

Gu Xiaoqi seemed unbothered by the pressure to come, instead grinning at Mu Yinyin. “So, how about a trip to the karaoke bar? Let’s go sing, darling!”

Li Chuan shot her a cold glance. “We just got back today, it’s been a long day. Go get some rest.”

Gu Xiaoqi immediately shrunk her neck, never daring to talk back to Li Chuan when he spoke like that.

The four of them were all close, but Gu Xiaoqi and Li Chuan had grown up together—childhood friends, with a bond a little deeper than the others. The atmosphere between them always seemed to glow; in Mu Yinyin’s eyes, even if they hadn’t confessed their feelings, it was only a matter of time.

Jiang Ling smiled faintly. “It’s getting late. Let’s head back. Now that you’re with the company, Yinyin, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to get together. Let’s save it for next time.”

Gu Xiaoqi pouted, a little disappointed. “Alright, alright, I’ll go rest. But don’t stay up too late, you two. Oh, Yinyin, where are you living now? Aren’t you lonely? Want to stay at my place?”

Jiang Ling and Li Chuan both looked at Mu Yinyin, silently.

Mu Yinyin had just gotten divorced; she really needed friends around her. Otherwise, the transition period would be a lonely one.

She smiled softly. “It’s fine, I’ve already moved in—same place I took you all before.”

Gu Xiaoqi sighed. “I thought I was the only one bored and lonely, but you’ve settled in already.”

Mu Yinyin was not one to waver, so after she declined, nobody pressed the issue further.

So, chatting and laughing, the group made their way outside.

But—

She hadn’t expected this.

When you want to run into someone, you try every possible way, yet nothing works. But when you’re trying to avoid someone, the universe always finds a way to throw them in your path.

At that very moment, the door to the private room ahead of them swung open, and three people walked out one after another.

Perhaps it was because she’d once paid him too much attention—or perhaps he simply stood out too much—but as soon as he appeared, Mu Yinyin’s eyes locked onto him, her gaze sharpening.

Fu Siye.

Meeting again.

What a coincidence.

A mocking curve appeared at the corner of Mu Yinyin’s lips.

Jiang Ling glanced at Mu Yinyin, a faint frown creasing his brow, but he said nothing.

Noticing the others, Fu Siye and his companions turned their heads, catching sight of Mu Yinyin and her friends standing there, as if waiting for them to leave first.

Fu Siye’s expression darkened noticeably.

Mu Yinyin.

Living so freely now—she can go out and party whenever she wants. Absolutely unrestrained! A woman like that should have been kicked out long ago!

“Tsk—!” Dyson made a sound, then broke into a sudden laugh. “What a coincidence! Everyone’s here~”

Li Chuan looked at them calmly and nodded. “Quite the coincidence.”

In the business world, most of them had worked together before; they’d all met. Even though Dyson was mostly in medicine, he still ran errands for his family’s affairs. The relationships weren’t cordial, but interests overlapped, so they’d crossed paths many times.

Mu Yinyin pressed her lips together, saying nothing.

Dyson, half-smiling, spoke up. “Since when did Ms. Mu get so close with them?”

Mu Yinyin lifted her gaze to Dyson, just in time to feel Fu Siye’s sharp eyes boring into her cheek.

Gu Xiaoqi quickly stepped to Mu Yinyin’s side, taking her hand. The instinctive gesture of protection filled Mu Yinyin with warmth.

Yet—

Gu Xiaoqi couldn’t help but shiver. She felt as if, after taking Mu Yinyin’s hand, Fu Siye’s gaze grew even more cutting.

Mu Yinyin squeezed Gu Xiaoqi’s hand in return and looked at Dyson with calm composure. “We’ve been friends for years. Is there an issue?”

Dyson chuckled teasingly. “No issue at all. I was just curious, that’s all.”

Fu Siye remained silent from beginning to end.

Mo Tingshen merely glanced in their direction and gave a faint nod as greeting.

Mu Yinyin had no desire to prolong the awkwardness. She spoke up. “You all go first.”

She had wanted to discuss the divorce further with Fu Siye, but with so many people around, it was neither the time nor place. She decided to hold her tongue.

Fu Siye cast Mu Yinyin a final, icy look and turned to leave.

From start to finish, he didn’t say a single word to her.

Dyson quickly caught up, walking alongside him. Once they’d put some distance between themselves and Mu Yinyin’s group, Dyson couldn’t help but speak. “You know those people just now, right?”

Fu Siye’s lips pressed into a thin, hard line, his mood clearly foul.

Mo Tingshen spoke indifferently. “In recent years, Starry Group has grown at an astonishing rate—they’re now in the national top fifty. All three founders were there, and Mu Yinyin is with them. Seems like they share a close bond. Siye, your ex-wife is not as simple as she seems.”

Dyson smirked, though he was speaking to Mo Tingshen, his words were for Fu Siye. “Last time I went out with Siye, we ran into her and Jiang Ling together—they were drinking. Mu Yinyin even got a bit tipsy that time.”
