Chapter 107: Darling, We're Together Now!
Gu Xiaoqi’s eyes flickered in surprise, but the next moment she shook her head sincerely. “It’s different.”
She could feel that Li Chuan was gentler, more patient and considerate with her, while with Yinyin, it was just friendly concern.
It was precisely because of this that she harbored different feelings toward Li Chuan and held hope.
That was also why she couldn’t hold back her tears when Li Chuan had just proposed they be together.
Li Chuan raised an eyebrow slightly. “Then why don’t we just make it official?”
Gu Xiaoqi’s face flushed a few shades deeper, and she lowered her head, unsure of what to say. Yet their hands remained tightly clasped—a closeness she had never experienced before. If she weren’t so weak at the moment, she might have lost control and rushed into Li Chuan’s arms. She truly longed to be held by him; only then would she feel safe and truly at home.
Li Chuan looked at her gently and said softly, “Alright, it’s getting late. Get some rest early. I’ll stay here with you.”
Gu Xiaoqi puckered her lips, feigning displeasure. “You just said that talking about this has already got me all excited. How could I possibly fall asleep?”
Li Chuan frowned slightly. “Be good.”
“No, I won’t sleep—I can’t,” she said, even though she knew Li Chuan had much work tomorrow. She wanted to indulge herself just this once, for this moment was the happiest she had ever been.
Li Chuan felt a bit helpless, but after a moment, he sighed and said gently, “Alright then, I’ll allow you fifteen more minutes of wakefulness.”
“I don’t…” Before she could finish, Gu Xiaoqi fell silent.
She knew that if she didn’t behave, Li Chuan would be displeased.
“Okay, okay… I’ll sleep after fifteen minutes,” her voice softened considerably, no longer quite so coquettish.
“That’s better,” Li Chuan said, his eyes showing satisfaction.
An hour later.
Mu Yinyin and Jiang Ling had already arrived at the airport.
They had just passed security and were waiting to board the plane when Mu Yinyin’s phone suddenly vibrated. She took it out and saw a message from Gu Xiaoqi.
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Yinyin! We’re together now!]
Mu Yinyin’s expression flickered with surprise, as if she guessed something but wasn’t entirely sure. Seeing that the other side was still typing, she didn’t move, just stared at her phone. Jiang Ling clearly noticed her strange demeanor and turned to look at her.
“What’s wrong?”
Mu Yinyin’s eyes flickered but she didn’t look at Jiang Ling.
“I’m not totally sure yet. Just wait.”
Jiang Ling looked puzzled but out of polite respect, he didn’t glance at her phone.
Then Mu Yinyin’s phone vibrated again.
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Yinyin, I’m so happy! I’m so excited! Ah Chuan confessed to me, he confessed! We’re together!!!]
Surprise flashed in Mu Yinyin’s eyes, but more than that was a smile of relief.
—Mu Yinyin: [Congratulations, finally a happy ending!]
After replying, she immediately looked at Jiang Ling, a smile she couldn’t suppress playing on her lips. “Xiaoqi just told me Ah Chuan confessed to her. They’re together now.”
Jiang Ling was a little surprised. “Really?”
Mu Yinyin smiled and showed him the screen. “Look.”
After a few glances, he saw their chat history and a faint smile of contentment crossed his eyes.
“Finally, a happy ending,” Jiang Ling said, a tone of sigh and envy in his voice.
He sighed over how these two had been awkward for so long but finally came together, and envied that they could be together while he himself...
Mu Yinyin didn’t notice all that; she was still caught up in happiness for Gu Xiaoqi. She whispered, “Actually, I had some suspicions about them. Xiaoqi is a girl, so she’s more reserved. As for Ah Chuan, he’s always been thinking about responsibility, wanting to give Xiaoqi the best, so he’s been working hard. But after Xiaoqi suddenly got so seriously ill this time, he must have been shaken and started to reflect.”
“Yeah, if it were me, I’d also feel it’s a regret—loving someone so much but never saying it. If anything had happened to Xiaoqi…” Jiang Ling paused and sighed, “That would be something I could never forgive myself for.”
Mu Yinyin’s gaze flickered but she said nothing. Then her phone vibrated again.
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Yinyin, I’m really so happy. This feels like the happiest thing that’s happened to me in my life.]
—Mu Yinyin: [I’m happy for you.]
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Wuwuwu… I couldn’t hold back my tears just now. Ah Chuan was so tender with me. Although he’s always cared for me these past few years, today, when he said it out loud, it meant something different. Yinyin, do you know how long I’ve waited for this day? He finally spoke, but it also surprised me a bit.]
—Mu Yinyin: [Maybe it’s because he’s been taking care of you every day recently, watching over you, and his heart couldn’t help but be moved. Now that you’re together, cherish it. Get well quickly, then take a vacation together and go somewhere fun.]
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Wuwu, you’re so sweet!]
—Mu Yinyin: [Alright, alright. It’s late, you should rest early and not stay up anymore. Staying up is bad for your health. I’m about to board now.]
—Gu Xiaoqi: [Okay, okay! Ah Chuan is urging me too! Be safe on your trip. I’m going to sleep now. Good night, darling!]
—Mu Yinyin: [Good night, darling.]
Putting down her phone, they prepared to board.
Mu Yinyin’s lips curved with a smile. “Seeing them like this, I’m truly happy for them. I just wonder when they’ll get married.”
She chuckled softly at the thought.
Jiang Ling nodded in agreement. “Yeah, when we get back, we have to celebrate for them.”
“Definitely.”
And so, the two boarded the plane together.
They spent the entire night on the flight. By the time they arrived, it was night again in the United States.
Everything had already been arranged for them. Upon arrival, they headed straight to the reserved hotel.
Jiang Ling was initially worried about Mu Yinyin and wanted to book a suite, but she declined. So the two ended up in rooms next to each other. Mu Yinyin glanced at Jiang Ling and smiled. “It’s late; you should get some rest.”
“Alright.” Jiang Ling looked at her, seeing the fatigue on her face, and said nothing more. They each went to their own rooms.
Night passed quietly.
