Chapter 120: Did You Really Think I Would Touch You?
Fu Siyue was growing increasingly impatient with her now.
What should she do? What could she possibly do?
Nan Shiqing sat by the bedside, hugging her knees, utterly at a loss.
Meanwhile, Fu Siyue had already returned to the bedroom.
Seeing Mu Yinyin still showed no sign of waking, Fu Siyue went into the bathroom.
He emerged twenty minutes later, a towel wrapped around his waist. Watching the woman lie quietly on the bed without a hint of movement, he frowned but eventually pulled the blanket over her.
The whole day and night felt somewhat long.
Yet for Mu Yinyin, it seemed to pass quickly.
When she finally woke, she heard the gentle sound of running water from the bathroom.
She turned her head, confused, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.
It was unmistakably a presidential suite.
But why the sound of water?
Raising her hand, she rubbed her aching forehead as a flood of memories forced their way into her mind.
Her expression shifted.
Only then did she recall: yesterday, she had dined with Gao Zhusheng, was drugged, and someone had rushed to her rescue.
She vaguely remembered there was a doctor too.
Her head throbbed painfully.
Mu Yinyin slowly sat up, her left hand pressing against her temple.
Her memory was fuzzy.
And the sound of water...
Who could be in the bathroom?
Just as she was puzzled, the bathroom door suddenly opened.
Mu Yinyin immediately looked over.
But when she saw the man emerge, only a towel wrapped around his waist, her face changed dramatically.
Fu! Siyue!
How could it be him?!
At that moment, Mu Yinyin had no desire to admire his perfect chest and abs; instead, she was overwhelmed with shock at his presence.
“You…” she stammered, unable to find the words.
Could he have been the one who saved her yesterday?
But everything was so dramatic—why was he at Gao Zhusheng’s place yesterday? What was going on?
Her mind swirled with questions, yet she was at a loss for words.
---
Fu Siyue, seeing Mu Yinyin was unharmed, let out a cold snort. “If you survived, consider yourself lucky.”
His voice dripped with mockery and disdain.
Mu Yinyin’s eyes flickered, understanding exactly what he meant.
After a brief pause, she said, “Thank you for saving me.”
Whether he was a passerby or indifferent, it was he who had brought her to safety, and she was naturally grateful.
Fu Siyue snorted again, clearly uninterested in her gratitude.
He stood there, wrapped in nothing but a towel, looking completely at ease.
Mu Yinyin’s face shifted slightly.
What was going on?
How was Fu Siyue sharing the same room with her, even bathing in her bedroom?
This was unheard of during their marriage—never had they even shared a bedroom, let alone had moments like this after a bath.
And now...?
Her expression was a mix of confusion and awkwardness.
Yet she couldn’t bring herself to speak a word.
Perhaps sensing her discomfort, Fu Siyue sneered, “You think I’d touch you?”
Mu Yinyin was momentarily stunned.
Then she smiled faintly. “I’m willing to believe that.”
After all, if that weren’t true, how could they have been married for three years without incident?
He had always been disdainful.
Fu Siyue was momentarily speechless.
Seeing her calm demeanor only fueled his irritation.
Before he could say more, Mu Yinyin’s puzzled voice sounded again. “But I don’t understand why you’re in this bedroom.”
Fu Siyue laughed coldly. “It’s my place. Need you question that?”
Mu Yinyin was silent.
Logically, it was his space, yet she had been living in this bedroom. He shouldn’t be here.
Then, suddenly, her lower abdomen growled—a hungry sound.
Fu Siyue glanced at her indifferently, said nothing, and left.
Feeling uncomfortable and sticky, Mu Yinyin got off the bed and entered the bathroom as soon as the door closed.
Her body was still weak, but she could manage.
Half an hour later,
Mu Yinyin emerged from the bathroom, her hair about seventy percent dry.
The scent of food filled the air.
She was surprised to see breakfast already set on the table.
---
Fu Siyue sat on the living room sofa reading the newspaper.
Mu Yinyin glanced at him silently, then took her seat at the table.
She was truly hungry.
Fu Siyue put down the paper and joined her across the table.
For the first time, they were having breakfast together.
It was something Mu Yinyin never even dreamed of.
He was actually eating breakfast with her.
But hunger left her no room to ponder; she simply ate.
Only after she was full did she set down her chopsticks.
Slowly, she looked up and met the man’s gaze.
His expression was calm, perhaps a little somber upon closer inspection.
Her eyes flickered as she finally said, “I will remember what happened this time. I’ll find a way to repay you. I’m leaving now.”
Fu Siyue looked at her coldly. “Leaving? To keep looking for him?”
Mu Yinyin’s expression shifted.
She halted and turned to face him.
Fu Siyue’s eyes were filled with scorn. “He treated you like that yesterday with clear intent. It wasn’t really to help you succeed—you were the one who lost out. Don’t you think what you’re doing is foolish?”
“Gao Zhusheng is a man with impure intentions, but he’s also someone who knows how to weigh pros and cons.”
“So he has some merits?” Fu Siyue seemed amused, especially seeing Mu Yinyin defend Gao Zhusheng so earnestly. It struck him as downright laughable.
Mu Yinyin frowned slightly. “I’m just being realistic. He will compromise for benefits in the end.”
Fu Siyue sneered. “If he were reasonable, do you think last night’s incident would have happened? Mu Yinyin, how could you be foolish enough to drink with him?”
His words were heavy with accusation.
Mu Yinyin’s frown deepened.
After a moment of hesitation, she spoke, “I know my limits.”
With that, she stepped toward the door.
But just as she reached it, Fu Siyue spoke in a low voice, “I’m afraid you won’t see him again.”
Mu Yinyin was stunned, immediately turning to look at him. “What do you mean by that?”
Won’t see him?
What was going on?
“Don’t you understand the literal meaning?” Fu Siyue’s gaze was mocking.
Mu Yinyin stared at him, more bewildered than ever.
