Chapter 85: I Hope You Won’t Regret It
Fu Siyue's expression grew darker and darker, yet he maintained composure as he spoke slowly, "Mu Yinyin, I hope you can face reality."
Mu Yinyin responded with a smile that was almost mocking, "Face what reality?"
She had already guessed what Fu Siyue was about to say, but she refrained from openly ridiculing him, as if genuinely waiting for him to continue.
Fu Siyue gazed at her coldly, "If you want to inherit your father's company, you could take it over from them. There's no need to make things difficult."
Mu Yinyin let out a cold laugh.
"I just want everyone to see that I don't get along with her. So what?"
"Unreasonable," Fu Siyue’s face grew increasingly grim, his disgust toward Mu Yinyin seemingly intensifying.
If it had been before, Mu Yinyin might have panicked, eager to explain everything to him, even willing to submit to his demands as long as it pleased him.
But now...
Mu Yinyin merely smiled, her tone laced with irony, "President Fu, whatever I do is my own business. I don't have the patience to debate with you. I’ll only ask: will you sign this contract, or not?"
Fu Siyue’s piercing gaze swept over her, but he said nothing.
Mu Yinyin raised her brows with a smile, "It seems you favor this partnership and don't want me to work with the Lu Corporation. Then shall we call the lawyer now to draft the contract? Any objections?"
"I hope you don’t regret this decision," Fu Siyue said coldly, his face tense.
"Regret?" Mu Yinyin couldn’t help but scoff, "Don’t say I’ll never regret it in this lifetime—even if I do, the consequences are mine alone and have nothing to do with you."
Fu Siyue’s expression darkened further, but he furrowed his brows without uttering a word.
The Mu Yinyin before him seemed intent on severing ties at every turn. Her gaze, once filled with affection and cherishing, was now laden with disdain and coldness, always seeking to distance herself from him.
This new Mu Yinyin made Fu Siyue increasingly agitated. He frowned deeply, thinking that this woman had been a master at pretending.
Fu Siyue let out a cold laugh, "I never realized you could be so hypocritical. How much of what you did before was just an act?"
Mu Yinyin's lashes trembled.
She laughed softly.
So, no matter what she had done, he believed it was all insincere. Now that she avoided him at all costs, he thought everything she did before was for her own gain.
At this moment, a wave of nausea swept through her—a sickening feeling she could not describe, making her entire body uncomfortable.
Mu Yinyin immediately drew a breath, as if trying to suppress the discomfort.
She couldn’t bear to stay with this man a moment longer, and spoke in a deep voice, "If you’re not in the mood to sign, please leave now."
Fu Siyue sneered, equally unwilling to linger. He stood up abruptly. "Tomorrow, my assistant will handle the signing with you."
With that, he strode out without hesitation, as though he could not stand to remain there another second.
The moment the door closed, Mu Yinyin lost control, retching uncontrollably.
She rose and hurried to the bathroom.
This physical revulsion caught her off guard.
It was a long while before she recovered—after half an hour of dry heaving, nothing came up, just pure discomfort.
Gradually, Mu Yinyin straightened up and walked slowly to the living room. She opened the window, letting the breeze in, her state finally eased.
The next day, just as Mu Yinyin had requested, Fu Siyue did as she asked and arranged the contract.
When Nan Shiqing and her daughter learned of this, their faces could not have looked more sour.
At this moment, the three of them sat in the office, Nan Shiqing’s expression especially grim, and they had been silent for over ten minutes.
Nan Shiqing could no longer hold back, speaking irritably, "Do you have any solutions? Now that the Fu Corporation has signed this contract with Starshine, they really won’t work with us anymore."
"I’m well aware," He Chengkui’s voice was somber.
He Xia frowned deeply, glancing at He Chengkui before speaking in a low voice, "We’re in an awkward position now. Both Fu Corporation and Lu Corporation refuse to cooperate with us. We’ll have to find a way to grow on our own."
"What do you mean?" Nan Shiqing sensed something was off with the two, and immediately asked, "Do you have some plan?"
She stared at them intently, unwilling to look away.
He Xia sighed helplessly and finally spoke softly, "We did intend to launch a new product, but because of our situation, we wanted either the Lu or Fu corporations to support us. The idea was that your connections would bring us closer, and we could promote this project, since we’re still short on funds. But now, it seems we’ll have to initiate it ourselves. Otherwise..."
She left the rest unsaid, but He Chengkui and Nan Shiqing understood her meaning.
He Chengkui furrowed his brow, "The project is good, but without a partner, where are we supposed to get so much funding? It’s a large-scale launch—simply impossible."
He Xia spoke again, her tone firm, "It’s not about what’s possible, only about trying. I believe if we reach out to enough companies and align interests, it can be done."
Nan Shiqing felt uneasy, instinctively shaking her head, "But if Lu and Fu corporations have made it clear they won’t work with us, others will just try to curry favor and ignore us."
"No matter. We can tell them the partnership is only temporary. If they ever want to cooperate with those companies, they can always break ties with us," He Xia said, picking up her water cup and taking a sip.
"How is that acceptable?" Nan Shiqing frowned, "What’s the point of doing it this way?"
"Because we’re launching a new project. Once it goes public, it’ll be a huge hit, and it will reach the market quickly. As long as the funds are in place, we can finalize deals in half a month and announce it at a press conference."
"What kind of project is so amazing?" Suspicion flickered in Nan Shiqing’s eyes, and she was plainly unconvinced.
After Mu Yinyin’s blow, she felt the Mu Group was doomed.
Yet her mother claimed there was a new opportunity, a blockbuster project—she thought it was pure fantasy.
"You’ll know soon enough," He Xia seemed unwilling to elaborate.
Nan Shiqing grew anxious, "What is it? Mom, tell me, what new project has the company launched?"
"No need to ask—you’ll find out soon enough," He Chengkui suddenly echoed, clearly neither of them intended to tell her.
Nan Shiqing: "..."
