Chapter 87: Is It Really Mu Yinyin?!
Fu Siyen seemed unwilling to continue the topic and asked calmly, "Isn't it time for your follow-up check?"
Nan Shiqing was momentarily taken aback, but the next moment she smiled and replied, "Yes, it's about time. But I feel my body has almost recovered. I don't need to be as cautious as before—"
"No." Before she could finish, Fu Siyen interrupted her.
Nan Shiqing parted her lips, instinctively wanting to argue, but Fu Siyen looked at her with a composed expression and said, "After we eat, I'll take you for your check-up, then send you back to rest."
His voice was very calm, yet warmth bloomed in Nan Shiqing's heart.
He must still care about her, otherwise, why would he say something like this?
It was only because Mu Yinyin had been playing too many tricks these past few days, clouding his judgment for a while.
Once the Mu Group's latest hit project succeeded and Starlight was overshadowed, Fu Siyen surely wouldn't pay so much attention to Mu Yinyin anymore.
"There's no need, Siyen. I can have my assistant go with me, really—"
Before she could finish, Fu Siyen suddenly spoke, "Be good?"
Nan Shiqing's cheeks flushed. His voice was deep and magnetic, and though his gaze remained calm, she could still feel his indulgence towards her—an affection that seemed to seep into her very bones.
She said nothing more, only smiled.
After their meal, the two of them went to the hospital.
They returned to the same hospital where Nan Shiqing had previously been admitted.
Fu Siyen had already made arrangements in advance and led her to the top floor.
Nan Shiqing glanced at Fu Siyen, a faint smile on her lips. "Siyen, I can go in by myself. You don't have to wait with me."
Fu Siyen had no intention of following her in. He nodded in the hallway, "If you need anything, just call me."
"Alright." Nan Shiqing smiled sweetly and walked inside without saying anything more.
The examination rooms here were specially prepared for wealthy families.
Right next to them was an operating room, its light still on. Not far away, several people were waiting.
When the group saw Fu Siyen, they immediately approached, some sounding surprised. "Mr. Fu, you're here too."
Fu Siyen glanced at them indifferently and nodded, "Mr. Guo."
Mr. Guo was a well-known figure, in his forties, but perhaps life had been hard on him—his hairline had receded halfway back, making him appear older than his years. He stood about one meter seventy, dressed in a black suit.
Mr. Guo nodded quickly. "Yes, my mother fell seriously ill. She's in surgery now—I don't know if she'll make it."
Fu Siyen nodded slightly, "The elderly are blessed, she will be fine."
"Thank you for your kind words!"
Fu Siyen said nothing more and had no intention of asking further.
Mrs. Guo couldn't help but speak, "Darling, are you sure the doctor we hired is capable? It's been two hours already..."
Her voice was laced with worry. Mr. Guo's face darkened, and he scolded, "Don't talk nonsense! Do you even know who we invited? If the illness weren't so severe, the surgery wouldn't take this long."
Fu Siyen's eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at them.
But the couple, preoccupied with their concerns for the elderly woman, didn't notice his gaze.
Mrs. Guo sighed, "Of course I want mother to get well soon. I'm just worried..."
"She'll be fine! If the expert we brought in can't help, no one can!" He didn't elaborate, but his meaning was clear.
Mrs. Guo pressed her lips together and fell silent.
Fu Siyen swept his gaze over them, then asked in a low voice, "Who did you invite? The King of Hell?"
Mr. Guo was surprised, then immediately nodded. "That's right."
Fu Siyen's eyes flickered, his lips pressed together, saying nothing.
Sensing the tense atmosphere in the hallway, the Guos grew uncertain, unsure what to say or where this strange feeling came from.
Mrs. Guo dared not speak again, standing awkwardly to the side.
Time trickled by.
Nan Shiqing was the first to come out. She saw Fu Siyen still seated on the bench in the corridor, her eyes brightening, warmth flooding her heart.
She knew it—Siyen was truly good to her.
There were others present as well, including someone she recognized—a formidable CEO. If he saw them together, word might spread.
This thought thrilled her. She smiled at Fu Siyen. "Siyen, I'm done."
Fu Siyen nodded, remaining seated, showing no intention of moving.
The hospital director had offered them a lounge, but Fu Siyen preferred to wait here, not wishing to trouble anyone.
As for the Guo family, they remained to receive news about their loved one as soon as possible.
Nan Shiqing was puzzled. She was already out, so why hadn't Fu Siyen asked how her exam went? Why hadn't he gotten up to leave? Why was he still here?
For a moment, she didn't know what to say. She glanced at Fu Siyen, opening her mouth to speak, but hesitated.
Just as she was about to ask, the operating room doors suddenly swung open.
All at once, everyone's attention turned to the doorway.
When Nan Shiqing saw the woman emerging in scrubs and a surgical mask, her pupils contracted sharply.
Mu Yinyin!?
She couldn't be mistaken—those eyes were unmistakable.
After so many years, she could recognize Mu Yinyin instantly.
But—why was Mu Yinyin dressed like that?
Mu Yinyin was briefly taken aback by her presence, but quickly averted her eyes and removed her mask.
Nan Shiqing was stunned.
It really was Mu Yinyin!
She had been sure she wouldn't mistake her, but she couldn't comprehend why Mu Yinyin would be dressed like this.
Nan Shiqing glanced instinctively at the door. It was unmistakably the operating room! And judging by Mu Yinyin's demeanor, she was clearly the lead surgeon—the lead always emerged first.
But Mu Yinyin... How could she dare to do such a thing?
At that moment, Nan Shiqing's eyes were filled with shock and disbelief—yet more than anything, with unwillingness and resentment.
"Sister, you—"
Before she could finish, Mr. Guo rushed forward, his face anxious and worried. "Master Yan, how is my mother? Is there hope?"
Nan Shiqing was utterly confounded.
What on earth was happening?
