Immediately, Mu Yinyin fixed her gaze on He Xia, her expression calm as she said, “The reason I agreed to return is, first, because I wanted to see my father’s home.”

Fu Siyen’s eyes flickered slightly; his thin lips pressed into a straight line without speaking, yet his cold, piercing gaze never left her.

“Yinyin…” He Xia seemed at a loss for words.

Mu Yinyin looked at He Xia with indifference. “As for the second reason, I suppose Nan Shiqing has already spoken to you about the transfer of shares. You know perfectly well how you obtained them in the first place. Return the shares to me, and everyone will retain their dignity.”

He Xia and Nan Shiqing’s expressions changed noticeably.

He Xia, more seasoned, sighed directly. “Yinyin, how could your aunt deceive you? Of course I can’t keep these assets for myself, but you and Shiqing are still young. If the shares are in your hands, I worry someone might trick you out of them.”

Fu Siyen’s face darkened further. Was Mu Yinyin truly so cold and unfeeling?

He was about to speak, but Mu Yinyin looked at him coldly and cut him off. “This is a family matter—it has nothing to do with you. If you truly care about them, the Fu Corporation has more than enough wealth. You can provide for them yourself.”

Fu Siyen was so incensed he almost laughed. “If you can’t have me, you think you can take from others?”

Mu Yinyin gave a mocking laugh, unwilling to argue with him, her voice light as air. “And what makes you think you matter?”

“Mu Yinyin!” Fu Siyen’s expression grew even darker.

Nan Shiqing stared at Mu Yinyin in disbelief, her emotions utterly unguarded. She genuinely couldn’t understand. What was happening with Mu Yinyin? Was she truly breaking with Fu Siyen and not playing hard to get?

Without Fu Siyen, she would lose her entire world. The wealth of the Fu family would have nothing to do with her anymore. Was she insane?

Truthfully, her previous thoughts had echoed Fu Siyen’s—she believed Mu Yinyin was trying to win him back by other means.

But now…

Something didn’t seem right.

No matter how many doubts she had, she couldn’t afford to let Fu Siyen suspect anything at this moment. She hurried to speak, “Sister… please don’t do this. You and Siyen are husband and wife. Couples quarrel at the head of the bed and reconcile at the foot—you two…”

Before she could finish, Mu Yinyin interrupted with a cold laugh. “There’s no need. We have never shared a bed. Perhaps President Fu has something to hide, something he doesn’t dare let me discover.”

Nan Shiqing: “?”

He Xia: “?”

What was she saying? They felt as though they understood, yet it seemed they didn’t. Was Mu Yinyin implying what they thought?

Fu Siyen’s forehead veins stood out starkly, his mind flashing to how Mu Yinyin, drunk last night, had accused him of being impotent.

This damned woman!

She truly needed to be taught a lesson!

But before he could speak, Mu Yinyin had already shifted her gaze away from him, her voice cool and detached. “The company belongs to my father. Since you married him, you’ve enjoyed privileges you know all too well. Consider how you and your daughter once lived, and how you live now. My father’s shares need not be yours for the taking. I’ve told you—I’m giving you three days. If I don’t receive the signed share transfer within that time, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”

Nan Shiqing nearly laughed in disbelief.

Could this woman be any more absurd?

She’s threatening to be unkind? What leverage does she have? What power could she possibly wield against them?

After Mu Yinyin’s father passed away, the entire Mu Corporation was on the verge of becoming the He Corporation. The company had been thoroughly managed by her mother. Mu Yinyin hadn’t appeared at the company for years, never intending to take over—no one respected her, and she wasn’t afraid of her.

Still, appearances needed to be maintained. Nan Shiqing looked at Mu Yinyin with feigned concern. “Sister, what’s wrong? Aren’t we family? Even if… we have no blood relation, we grew up together. I’ve always considered you my real sister, but you’ve changed so much these past days.”

Nan Shiqing appeared deeply saddened, her tearful eyes fixed on Mu Yinyin. “Sister, is there some secret pain you can’t speak of? You can tell us.”

Mu Yinyin smiled faintly. Look at Nan Shiqing—she was so adept, pouring cold water on her, denying their kinship, yet appearing endlessly kind and considerate, asking if she was troubled.

Nan Shiqing truly was skilled. Mu Yinyin realized that, if she hadn’t noticed before, it wasn’t her fault—the mother and daughter were simply formidable.

He Xia also looked at Mu Yinyin with great concern. “Yinyin, if you face any difficulties, tell your aunt. I’ll do everything I can to help you.”

The servants weren’t all present in the living room, but many had already begun to think Mu Yinyin was somewhat harsh.

But Mu Yinyin was never one to put on an act; these people were not worth her performance.

With this mother-daughter pair in the house, what good image could she hope for? How could the servants think well of her? What use was defending herself?

Mu Yinyin stared at them coldly, her aura formidable. “Will you give me the shares now, or wait until the deadline when I show you no mercy?”

Nan Shiqing inwardly sneered. Ha! She would love to see what Mu Yinyin would do to her after the deadline!

He Xia’s expression was deadly serious. “Yinyin, your shares will be yours sooner or later. They belong to your father, and I never intended to take them. But right now, you have no authority in the company and can’t convince the shareholders to follow you. That’s why your aunt can’t hand them over yet. If you’re willing, I’ll arrange for you to join the company, start from the bottom, let everyone see your effort and ability. Then, when I give you the shares, no one will object.”

As Mu Yinyin gave a cold laugh, Fu Siyen spoke impatiently, his tone laced with annoyance. “Aunt He has shown you nothing but kindness. Mu Yinyin, don’t push your luck.”

“Siyen…” Nan Shiqing tugged at Fu Siyen’s sleeve, saying no more but her eyes signaled concern for Mu Yinyin.

Fu Siyen’s brow was furrowed tightly, his voice icy. “Shiqing has endured so much for you—how far will you push her?”

Mu Yinyin seemed almost amused, but didn’t spare Fu Siyen a glance. She had said what she needed; there was no reason to linger, especially since she’d finished eating.

Without another word, she rose and strode out.

Fu Siyen’s piercing gaze followed her back. Very well. This woman—very well! He would see how long she could keep up this act!

“Yinyin…” He Xia hurriedly put down her chopsticks and stood.

“Sister…” Nan Shiqing anxiously tried to rise as well, but before she could, Fu Siyen stopped her. “You’re not well; don’t strain yourself. There’s no need for everyone to indulge her drama.”
