Chapter 42: Love at First Sight
Qin Yubing watched the man, cold as ice, step into the elevator without so much as a backward glance. She frowned gently. Did he not know that Xiaokai is Zhizhi’s son?
Biting her lip, Qin Yubing thought that since Zhizhi already had a child, that man probably wouldn’t be interested in her anyway. Besides, Zhizhi wasn’t planning on finding another boyfriend; even if she mentioned it, it shouldn’t matter.
Carrying her parcels, Qin Yubing entered the hospital room. Seeing the toys and fruit Qin Yubing had brought, Nan Zhi gave her a playful glare. “You always bring something every time you visit. If you keep this up, you shouldn’t come next time.”
Qin Yubing smiled tenderly. “I brought them for my godson. If he likes it, I’d pluck the stars from the sky for him.”
“By the way, where’s my godson?” Qin Yubing asked.
“He—well, who knows whom he takes after. He’s only been in the hospital a few days, but everyone on this floor, doctors, nurses, and patients, already know him. There’s a little girl in the room diagonally opposite who wouldn’t take her medicine and kept crying out for Xiaokai. Aunt Zhou took him over.”
Qin Yubing couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s your fault for giving birth to such a handsome godson. By the way, Zhizhi, have you ever thought about finding his biological father?”
Nan Zhi pressed her red lips together. “If I can find suitable bone marrow for Xiaokai, I don’t want to find that man.”
Her memories of him were hazy, but she remembered he wasn’t bad-looking, and his status was probably high. If he found out about Xiaokai, what if he tried to take her son away?
She still had so much to do; she simply didn’t have the energy to fight a custody battle.
Hearing Nan Zhi’s words, Qin Yubing nodded thoughtfully. “Have you ever considered falling in love again? Staying single all the time isn’t good.”
Nan Zhi smiled and shook her head. “My ambitions reach far beyond that. I won’t be tied down by romance anymore.” She paused and looked at Qin Yubing, unable to resist pinching her fair, delicate cheek. “What’s this? Is our little Yubing thinking about love?”
Qin Yubing didn’t hide it, her cheeks flushing. “Zhizhi, I think I’ve fallen in love with a man at first sight.”
Nan Zhi blinked. “Really? Who is it? Do I know him?”
Qin Yubing bit her lip again, her face reddening as she shook her head. “I don’t even know his name. I only know he’s the most handsome and charming man I’ve ever seen.”
Yubing had acted alongside many male actors, all sorts of types. She’d never praised any of them like this before, so this encounter must have been truly extraordinary.
“You’ve got me curious about the man who’s bewitched our little Yubing.”
“There’ll be a chance,” Yubing replied.
Aunt Zhou brought Xiaokai back to the room. After a brief chat with the little boy, Qin Yubing finally left.
A nurse came in to take Xiaokai’s temperature. “Miss Nan, Dr. Jun asked you to go to his office.”
“All right.”
After Nan Zhi left, the nurse sat at the bedside and looked at Xiaokai. “Oh dear, if only you were twenty years older, I’d want to marry you so much!”
Xiaokai looked up at the ceiling speechless—yet another nurse who wanted to marry him.
“Sister Xiaohua, since I was admitted, you’re the eleventh nurse to confess to me.”
Nurse Xiaohua pouted. “Well, Nan Xiaokai, you’re the most handsome guy in the hospital.”
Xiaokai wasn’t shy at all, and smiled narcissistically. “Of course, just look at who gave birth to me.”
“Yes, yes, your mommy is the most beautiful mother in the hospital.”
“So the most handsome should be with the most beautiful. I can’t accept your confession, Sister Xiaohua, can I?”
Nurse Xiaohua nodded. “That does make sense.”
