Nan Zhi’s delicate brows drew tightly together. Her small face turned frosty as she ground out through clenched teeth, “Your young master is nothing but a robber’s logic.”

“No help for it. He’s rich.”

Nan Zhi was so furious she could no longer find the words to speak.

“Miss Nan, the contract clearly states one year. If you can make the young master personally tell you to leave, perhaps you won’t need a full year to win back your freedom.”

“Before you appeared, I never saw the young master force any woman. Maybe your temperament is different from the women before you. They tried every possible way to cling to the young master, while you avoid him at all costs. That contrast has made him interested in you.”

Nan Zhi lowered her thick, long lashes and fell into thought.

What Evan said did not lack reason.

That arrogant, overbearing man was surely someone who had never failed when he wanted something.

Her resistance had only stirred his desire to conquer.

If she could not make him lose interest, who knew what even worse means he might use next.

“Housekeeper Evan, how is my son now?”

“Dr. Jun is taking care of Little Kai, Miss Nan. Please rest assured.”

Nan Zhi’s lips trembled. In just one night, that man had been able to bring Heartkind Hospital under his control. What else in the world would he be incapable of doing?

Nan Zhi bit down hard at the back of her teeth and took the exclusive servant contract from Evan’s hand.

After carefully reading through the terms, and finding nothing about sleeping with him or anything of the sort, she said, “If I have work during the day, I can’t stay here--”

“Of course. The young master will not interfere with your normal work.”

Nan Zhi understood clearly. If she did not sign, that man would not show himself, nor would he let her see Little Kai.

Even if she did get to see him, without his permission, she and Little Kai still would not be able to leave this place.

When you had provoked a devil, did you still have any way back?

Holding her face rigid, Nan Zhi nodded. “I’ll sign this one.”

Evan handed the signed contract to Mu Sihan and cautiously glanced at him. “Young master, Miss Nan didn’t sign the first contract. Aren’t you angry?”

Evan could naturally see that the young master’s true intention was to make Miss Nan his woman.

Mu Sihan folded his arms behind his head and leaned back into the leather chair. A wicked smile curved his lips. “Why would I be angry? A private servant means she belongs only to me.”

He could not force her too hard. As long as she stayed by his side, he did not believe he could not conquer her.

When Nan Zhi was taken by the housekeeper to see Little Kai, the child was taking his afternoon nap.

Sunlight poured through the window onto the little one’s exquisitely cute face. His skin was soft and fair, and his pink little mouth was slightly open, a thread of drool at the corner of his lips. Nan Zhi took a tissue and gently wiped it away, her gaze tender and overflowing with maternal love.

Jun Yuan told Nan Zhi that the medical equipment and medicine Mu Sihan had prepared for Little Kai were all top-grade imports, things Little Kai would never have enjoyed at Heartkind Hospital.

Nan Zhi could not describe how she felt at that moment. It all seemed like a dream.

Toward evening, Nan Zhi was busy in the kitchen when a commotion suddenly rose outside.

“Everyone, stand by the entrance quickly. The old lady just called. Miss Ye is coming over.”

In the afternoon, Evan and Mu Sihan had gone out, and neither of them was in the estate. The one in charge was the more senior Sister Yu.

Seeing that Nan Zhi was still in the kitchen, Sister Yu frowned and barked in dissatisfaction, “You, the new one. Yes, you. What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go to the entrance to greet the future young mistress!”
