Chen Ou was actually quite flustered now.

The Pokémon that Nasi had sent out was no ordinary one—this Alakazam was clearly Nasi’s true trump card.

Nasi giving her all was on a completely different level from Misty doing the same. When Nasi went all out, she could even give Wataru a tough fight. Wataru himself wouldn’t dare lightly provoke this taciturn, ruthless psychic girl.

After realizing that Nasi was serious, Chen Ou began to feel troubled. If this Alakazam mega-evolved, then Chen Ou would only have himself and Entei left to counter its edge.

But at this point, the situation was already critical—there was no turning back.

“Alakazam and I will give it our all. If you can defeat us, I will give you the Golden Badge. After all, this is a guidance battle,” Nasi said, her tone tinged with a hint of pride and coyness. But there was no problem with that. Nasi was truly a veteran powerhouse. Back when Red was still a rookie, she was already the gym leader of Golden City and a key general under Sakaki.

On the other hand, the Kalos League did closely guard mega evolution stones and keystone stones. Each league had only a handful of these mega evolution stones in circulation. Misty and Brock clearly hadn’t reached that status yet—the league hadn’t allocated mega stones to them. This was likely why Brock later went to Kalos; his Steelix’s mega evolution was truly formidable.

As for Red... that guy had received a set of Charizard X’s mega stones from the elder Fuji...

That was what you called protagonist treatment. Green didn’t even have that luxury. However, Professor Oak had procured Blastoise’s mega stone and keystone from Professor Platano for Green. As for Chen Ou, he wasn’t a trainer at the time, so he didn’t take one. But if Chen Ou wanted one, he wouldn’t have needed Professor Oak’s help.

He knew Professor Platano too, though not well, but he could still manage to get a set of mega stones.

Moreover, Chen Ou and Karen were considered good friends.

As for Nasi’s set of mega stones... she lacked neither money, status, nor connections.

So no worries there.

Chen Ou was helpless. Nasi’s “giving it all” definitely meant mega evolution. His Charmeleon and Poochyena couldn’t even reach their final evolutions. Little Chimchar’s nature wasn’t even fixed yet.

That left only Entei.

Chen Ou could tell that Nasi wanted to test the limits of his Entei. After all, her intention to teach Chen Ou a lesson was plainly evident.

Chen Ou wasn’t sure how he had provoked Nasi, but letting Charmeleon and Poochyena experience combat against true elite-level Pokémon would be beneficial.

“Then come on, Charmeleon, Flamethrower! Give a greeting!” Chen Ou commanded calmly.

Charmeleon immediately unleashed a burst of flamethrower...

The vivid crimson flames surged toward Alakazam. Both Nasi and Alakazam were momentarily taken aback by the crystal-clear, fiery blaze, but they did not panic.

“Alakazam, block it,” Nasi ordered with cool composure. She neither enhanced Alakazam with psychic powers nor mega evolved it. It was clear that since Chen Ou wanted to test Charmeleon, Nasi was happy to cooperate. Though annoyed with Chen Ou, she wouldn’t refuse such a request.

Well, for a legitimate request...

Alakazam calmly crossed its spoons, erecting a psychic barrier that stopped the flamethrower.

Unfortunately, they underestimated the enhanced flames.

Chen Ou’s flames, once strengthened, could be shared with his Pokémon, so training Charmeleon’s blue and white flames could be set aside. His red flames were stronger than those. More importantly,

these flames had an extraordinary quality: they could burn psychic energy.

Alakazam watched its psychic barrier ignite like wood and burn toward it. It decisively dispelled the barrier, then swung the spoon in its left hand, sending a psychic blade slicing toward Charmeleon’s head with a sharp gust.

Honestly, if this attack landed, Charmeleon might be finished.

But Charmeleon was no pushover. It promptly abandoned the nearly effective flamethrower and retreated swiftly to dodge.

Alakazam’s razor-sharp psychic blade struck empty air. It pushed its spoon forward again, releasing another psychic wave that dispersed the remnants of the flamethrower.

The crimson flames scattered and ignited the rocky ground briefly before dying out.

Watching this exchange, Chen Ou marveled at the agility of psychic-type Pokémon’s tactics.

Though his flames could be shaped and molded, Charmeleon and company had little practice wielding this new style of fire. Their proficiency was low; being able to condense the flamethrower into a fiery pillar was already impressive.

More training and practice were needed. Increasing proficiency was truly a painstaking process—there were no shortcuts.

As Chen Ou admired this, Nasi’s expression grew serious.

Flames that could burn psychic energy—she hadn’t noticed this when Chen Ou stopped her from “touching” that girl Baici’s head earlier, but now she realized the flames were truly unusual.

She was also surprised by Charmeleon’s combat awareness and skill. As far as she knew, this Charmeleon had been caught not long ago, yet had already reached this level?

It seemed Chen Ou’s talent was genuinely extraordinary.

Recalling Chen Ou’s earlier remark, “I have a girlfriend now,” Nasi was even more annoyed.
