Chapter 60: The King of Catastrophes Returns (Third Update!)
Could these two people be Lin Zijin’s teammates? No, there must be others; otherwise, after he was killed, the game would have ended already.
Staring at the two figures on the screen, Wang Xiaohu felt a heavy frustration in his chest. He desperately wanted to know who these two were and where they came from.
It wasn’t as if Wang Xiaohu had never died in the game before—he’d been killed countless times. What mattered to him wasn’t that he lost, but the way it happened. Damn, was he just shown up?
The one who killed him earlier was here, as was the one driving. Where did these two emerge from? What was their connection to Lin Zijin? These questions piled up in his mind, for these two were utterly unfamiliar.
He quickly bade his fans farewell and ended his stream. After exiting the game, Wang Xiaohu closed the streaming software and opened his browser. He navigated to Tomato TV’s website, and soon found Lin Zijin’s live channel prominently featured on the homepage.
Just as he suspected, at this hour, Lin Zijin was indeed streaming. He waited until he was off-air because Red Flag TV had a policy forbidding their broadcasters from interacting online with hosts from other platforms during a live session. This was common across major streaming sites—hosts were strictly prohibited from promoting other platforms during broadcasts, and interaction with streamers from rival sites was forbidden.
After all, every platform was a competitor; if a popular host engaged with another site’s streamer during their own broadcast, it could divert traffic and harm their own site’s interests. For example, if a high-profile host interacted with a minor streamer from another platform, that would only help the rival gain viewers—a clear act of aiding the enemy!
That’s why Wang Xiaohu deliberately ended his stream before coming here. Entering Lin Zijin’s live channel, he quickly fixed his gaze on the streaming screen.
Just then, a motorcycle—one he recognized all too well—raced past the spot where he had just been. So they were a squad! Wang Xiaohu wore an expression of “I knew it.”
At that moment, Lin Zijin was hiding at the edge of the safe zone, scanning her surroundings. There was still one more person left! Not only Lin Zijin, but countless viewers—Wang Xiaohu included—were curious about the last survivor’s whereabouts.
Suddenly, Lin Zijin made her move. The crack of gunfire rang out, and a figure clad in ghillie suit barely rose before his level-three helmet exploded. A perfect kill! One shot, one life!
“Winner winner, chicken dinner!”
The match ended, and Wang Xiaohu, recalling the scene, was stunned.
By his own estimation, he could have pulled off Lin Zijin’s maneuver, but not nearly with the same speed. Her reflexes were astonishing. He had only just spotted the prone enemy, and she had already fired—dead in an instant! Truly deserving of her legendary status as a professional, unmatched to this day.
As the squad screen reappeared, Wang Xiaohu’s sharp gaze finally landed on the player with the ID “Serene Heart.” On screen, Lin Zijin, Yang Hao, and another began another game, three in a four-player squad.
Watching for a while, Wang Xiaohu noticed that the viewers in the chat were quite familiar with Yang Hao, as if he were a regular presence. This puzzled Wang Xiaohu. From the comments, he quickly learned that the player with the ID “Serene Heart” was known to viewers as “Brother Bluff.”
Beyond that, nothing more could be gleaned just from watching. Wang Xiaohu immediately registered an account, logged into the chat, and sent private messages to several active viewers, hoping to learn more about Yang Hao.
He knew not everyone would reply, so he deliberately chose several targets, wanting to dig some information out of them.
“Are you a fan of the goddess too?” came a swift reply.
Wang Xiaohu’s heart leapt. “Yes, absolutely!” he responded quickly. To get information, he needed their trust; since the other was a fan of Lin Zijin, playing the fan himself was the quickest way in.
“Oh, welcome, welcome!”
“I wanted to ask—those two teaming up with the goddess, who are they? Why haven’t I seen them before?”
“Huh???”
“?????”
The conversation stalled. Wang Xiaohu was taken aback. What was happening? The chat had been smooth, but the moment he asked about Yang Hao, the other fell silent.
“Are you an undercover spy?” Suddenly, just as Wang Xiaohu thought he’d lost them, a new message appeared.
He was stunned. A spy? The term sounded odd. He was just trying to learn about Yang Hao, not infiltrate anything. And besides, who talks about spies these days?
He wanted to ask if the other was joking, but he was also confused as to what he’d said to cause such suspicion.
“I’m not!” Wang Xiaohu replied.
“Impossible! If you’re a fan and watching the stream, how could you not know Brother Bluff? Hah, you can’t fool my sharp eyes.”
Reading this, Wang Xiaohu paused in confusion. “Do I have to know Brother Bluff to watch here?”
“Hah, if you don’t know Brother Bluff, what are you even watching?” came the taunt.
“Is Brother Bluff really that amazing?” The other seemed talkative, so Wang Xiaohu pressed on.
“He’s our leader!”
That message left Wang Xiaohu bewildered. Their leader? Wasn’t Lin Zijin their leader? How did Brother Bluff suddenly take the role?
“Ahem, I’m new here!” Wang Xiaohu quickly found himself an excuse.
Wanting to earn trust, he immediately topped up and sent a virtual airplane gift in the channel.
“Whoa, you’re a big spender! You don’t seem like a spy, so let me tell you about Brother Bluff’s exploits…”
His gesture seemed to dispel suspicion, and the other’s attitude shifted, as if to mentor a newcomer. The so-called exploits were largely exaggerated tales, with Brother Bluff’s deeds in the channel blown out of proportion.
The viewer was quite the character, spinning wild stories and leaving Wang Xiaohu thoroughly awed.
“That’s enough, I’m going back to watching the stream!” With that, the braggart vanished, and no matter how many messages Wang Xiaohu sent afterward, he barely replied.
Helpless, Wang Xiaohu could only continue watching, determined to gauge the strength of these two.
However—
Just as he returned his gaze to the stream, he saw the three had just entered the game, only for their yellow car to be launched into the air and crash, killing them instantly.
“Keep it up, next time we’ll get chicken dinner!”
With that, the game ended—Game Over!
Puzzled, Wang Xiaohu scanned the chat, trying to figure out what had just happened.
“666, Brother Bluff, you’ve got my respect.”
“The crash king returns! You’ll never escape that title.”
“Brother Bluff: Impossible to crash, never in my life!”
“Smack! Brother Bluff, how’s that for a slap in the face?”
“Legendary pitfall Brother Bluff appears once more.”
Staring at the barrage of comments, Wang Xiaohu was completely stunned. Apparently, the reason for the crash was none other than Brother Bluff.
He was utterly speechless.
