Chapter 111: The Gang
Crackling—
Under Nana’s psychic sweep, every glass window around shattered instantaneously!
Fortunately, in the next moment, with a loud bang, the orphanage’s broken door was kicked open—anyone unaware might have thought they were the ones who broke the glass, so there was no need for Amu to explain.
But Amu saw clearly: the glass was undoubtedly shattered by Nana’s psychic power!
Then, the piano music and choir abruptly stopped, and footsteps sounded from the second floor door—the elderly headmaster, who had been playing piano and leading the children’s singing in the music room, was now heading to the entrance to investigate.
“Who are you...”
Before the headmaster could finish speaking, a few snarls and shouts interrupted him.
Hearing this, Amu immediately left the kitchen without waiting to check on Nana and rushed to the entrance.
What she saw was a group of Houndours and Durant, led by a Mightyena and a Krookodile, storming inside!
The Houndours were attacking the headmaster’s Persian three against one, while the Mightyena and Krookodile quickly subdued what appeared to be the headmaster’s Haunter and Spiritomb…
Indeed, the headmaster had a Ghost-type inclination!
Both Haunter and Spiritomb were Ghost-type, while their opponents, Mightyena and Krookodile, were Dark-type…
The opponents had a type advantage and caught the headmaster off guard—he was clearly out of practice for battle.
“Stop right there!” Amu shouted as several Houndours attempted to rush up to the music room. She immediately released her own Pokémon.
*“Fairywood Tale”*
“Block them!”
The leader ordered, and Houndours and Durants moved forward to entangle Amu’s forces…
Amu had Ivysaur, Exeggutor, Rhydon, and Nidoking. The battle was a real test for the old wooden floor and staircase, which began to crack and break beneath them. But Amu couldn’t afford to worry about that now.
At this moment, Amu was not yet panicked—there was still Clefairy upstairs!
However, Amu’s heart was heavy—she hadn’t prepared for this fight in advance. Not only were Kankan and Boom absent, but she also had almost no “Motivational Potions” left and hadn’t given any to her Pokémon beforehand.
So Amu held back a trick—she didn’t release Gengar, who was hiding in her shadow, hoping to catch the enemy off guard later.
But…
“Stop it—you should be the one to stop!” the enemy suddenly threatened.
Wailing—
Amid the cries and sobs, the children upstairs had already been taken hostage by two henchmen and the Houndours?
And Amu… did not see Clefairy inside!
“Is that you?” Amu recognized the leader.
Many intruders had rushed in—none looked friendly—but the one leading them was familiar to Amu…
Yes, though she didn’t know his real name, he was the bald-headed Uchiha!
“Is that you?” The bald Uchiha looked startled to see Amu.
He quickly glanced around nervously, and upon realizing Kunsa was not lying in wait, he relaxed.
“You guys just won’t die, will you?” The bald Uchiha glared darkly at Amu.
He was more familiar with Conan and Heiji, but in his eyes, Amu was part of the same gang!
“Ah!”
A scream came from behind, and Amu immediately called out, “Lala!”
Lala was also being dragged in—this was a large gang, at least a dozen strong, now in full control of the orphanage.
It was already night, and the area was desolate; no one nearby was likely to notice. The enemy probably had lookouts.
Scolding Conan and Heiji in her heart for being useless, Amu adjusted her glasses…
“What do you want? Do you think kidnapping children will let you escape?” Amu asked calmly.
They had indeed stopped fighting—because even if they didn’t, Amu’s four Pokémon were no match for them!
“Escape? Ha…” The bald Uchiha sneered disdainfully.
Suddenly, Amu seemed to realize something and looked at him in surprise, “Could it be… you found the Uchiha treasure?”
The bald Uchiha’s expression darkened, “Looks like you got some news too, otherwise you wouldn’t just happen to be here.”
Hearing this, Amu grew more convinced, “Could it really be here?”
Before, she hadn’t even had a sliver of certainty—just seeing the orphanage, she thought she might as well try her luck.
The bald Uchiha saw Amu’s sudden certainty and blamed himself for speaking too much but shook his head, “Forget it. You don’t have the ‘key’ anyway!”
“Key?” Amu was momentarily stunned.
“Of course…” The bald Uchiha said, reaching into his cloak, then froze.
Seeing him search repeatedly, Amu couldn’t help but say sarcastically, “Hey, don’t tell me you lost it? That’s such a lame way to fail!”
“Shut up! That’s impossible… Mightyena!” The bald Uchiha growled in anger, preparing to attack.
“Nido, Amen!” Amu retorted fiercely, sending out Nidoking and Exeggutor.
Unfortunately, they likely wouldn’t hold—both had combat power around 22,000 to 23,000, which was quite good considering Amu’s travel time. Against ordinary henchmen’s Pokémon, they should have the upper hand, but… the bald Uchiha’s Mightyena and Krookodile were definitely elite!
As for the “old craftsman” Amu had seen earlier, that was probably just a cover—he was undoubtedly a professional trainer, not an ordinary bandit.
Amu’s Nidoking, Exeggutor, Ivysaur, and Rhydon combined had roughly equal power to the two enemy Pokémon, but power doesn’t add up like that!
Generally speaking, a double power advantage is already overwhelming— even with type advantage, it’s hard to turn the tide.
Just then, a faint “clatter” sound came from somewhere…
Following the sound, Amu saw…
An Abra sitting on the stair railing, casually tossing a black magatama bead between its three fingers, looking quite relaxed…
“Damn it… Give it back, or I’ll take their lives!” The bald Uchiha ordered the henchmen holding the children.
The Houndours surrounding the children bared their teeth and snarled more fiercely under their trainer’s command.
Amu immediately intervened, “Wait! You’re telling me… I can’t do anything? That’s not my Pokémon!”
“Not yours?” The bald Uchiha frowned, sensing Amu was not lying.
More importantly, footsteps approached…
Nana appeared, stepping out calmly.
Amu guessed Nana was probably stronger than herself and said irritably, “Why are you only coming out now?”
“Didn’t you say not to waste energy?” Nana replied, leisurely wiping the corner of her mouth with a handkerchief.
Amu: …
