Chapter 3: The Demolition Genius!
Zhang Xuan was also stunned. Focusing his gaze, he saw a blurry human face appear on the phone screen. Yet, that face was far away and extraordinarily huge!
Seeing Zhou Cheng and the others cautiously stop in their tracks, Zhang Xuan furrowed his brows.
Zhou Cheng’s voice came through the earpiece: “Brother Xuan, what is that?”
He then raised the phone, aiming it at the face.
After a moment, Zhang Xuan exclaimed in surprise, “Huh? There’s a human face relief on the tomb door?”
The viewers in the live stream were drawn in by this scene. The previous sight of the bronze coffin had left them shaken. They had not expected to see a human face inside the ancient tomb just minutes later.
Was this livestream destined to be their last?
However, when Zhang Xuan said it was a relief carving on the tomb door, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Inside the ancient tomb!
The tall, slender man’s face immediately lit up upon hearing Zhang Xuan’s words.
“Looks like we’ve found the exit!”
“Heh heh!”
“Third Master!”
“We’re saved.”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Zeyi sighed deeply. After exchanging a glance with Tally, he gave a bitter smile. They had come for the Warring States tomb but had accidentally stumbled upon the tomb of King Zhou Tianzi instead.
Though they had barely survived and did not obtain a single treasure, at this moment, seeing the tomb door brought not disappointment, but a sense of relief.
Zhou Cheng murmured with some puzzlement, “Third Uncle, why is there a human face on the tomb door?”
“And why is it glowing?”
Zhou Zeyi shook his head.
Tally beside him said, “Probably some phosphorescent powder.”
“Never mind that. Let’s go take a closer look, shall we?”
He then strode toward the face.
But after a few steps, Zhou Zeyi suddenly stopped.
“That doesn’t seem right.”
Zhou Cheng looked at him in surprise. “What’s wrong, Third Uncle?”
The tall, slender man also showed a puzzled expression. “What’s wrong?”
Zhou Zeyi glanced around and blinked. “How come the tomb of King Zhou Tianzi doesn’t even have side chambers?”
“This is very strange.”
The two were momentarily stunned by his words.
The tall man frowned. “Seems like that’s true. The main burial hall is grand, but why are the specifications so shabby?”
“Could there be secret passages here?”
“Usually, burial goods are placed in the side chambers.”
“If we manage to take even one bronze artifact from the Western Zhou, our trip won’t have been in vain!”
Seeing the tall man’s thoughts turning to treasure, Zhou Cheng couldn’t help but ask, “Which is more important, life or treasure?”
“Didn’t you hear what Brother Xuan said just now?”
“What if we provoke the big guy inside the bronze coffin again? No one can save us then!”
The tall man’s expression darkened instantly. Seeing that Zhou Zeyi seemed to be considering searching the side chambers for burial goods, he awkwardly said, “Nephew, don’t get excited. I’m only saying.”
“Let’s go—saving our lives is the priority.”
The group soon arrived before the enormous human face relief on the tomb door.
From a distance, the face only seemed a little terrifying, but up close, it was truly shocking—almost eerie.
“Third Master, is this even human?”
Tally widened his eyes and looked up at the huge face, unease and confusion glimmering in his pupils.
Zhou Zeyi did not answer, sharing the same expression as Tally.
The tall man blinked. “Ah, why do I feel this thing is unclean?”
Just as he said this, he sensed someone passing by him.
Turning back, he saw Zhou Cheng tilting his head, walking back and forth behind the three of them, his expression one of surprise and perplexity as he stared at the face.
“What are you doing?”
Zhou Cheng suddenly stopped and waved his finger at the face. “Why do I feel like it’s staring right at me?”
Tally stepped back a few paces and imitated Zhou Cheng, shifting angles to look at the glowing face several times.
In a daze, they truly felt as if they were being locked onto.
Seeing Tally’s expression change, Zhou Zeyi asked, “How is it?”
Tally gasped, “Holy crap, the Mona Lisa’s smile?”
Zhou Zeyi frowned. “Speak plainly!”
Only then did Tally say, “This face is too strange. No matter the angle, it feels like those eyes are watching us!”
“Third Master, this can’t be something unclean, right?”
Zhou Zeyi’s face grew uneasy. “Shouldn’t be... that unlucky.”
Seeing Zhou Zeyi hesitate, the tall man grabbed his bag and walked toward the tomb door, muttering, “All fear comes from insufficient firepower!”
“We’ll blow this door up!”
“What’s a face? Even the King of Hell would get two scars from this!”
Zhou Zeyi suddenly widened his eyes, then took a deep breath. “Exactly!”
The group began to retreat.
“Wait!”
“They’re going to blow up the door!”
In the guard room, Fang Yocai suddenly pointed at the screen and said solemnly,
“Director Yang from the National Cultural Heritage Administration has instructed that police actions must ensure the safety of the ancient tomb’s artifacts!”
“Captain Lin, listen to me—we cannot make an arrest now!”
Lin Yue furrowed her brows tightly. “Captain Fang, is that an order?”
Fang Yocai turned his head. “Not an order—just worried you’ll cause a major mistake.”
“Even if you’re a history novice, you should understand the value of the Western Zhou sovereign’s tomb!”
“Right now, Zhang Xuan is the only person the tomb raiders trust, the only one who can communicate with them!”
“If you move against him now, what if the tomb raiders blow up the ancient tomb?”
“Do you want to become a villain in history?”
Lin Yue was momentarily stunned. She stared at the screen, took several deep breaths, and said, “The detonators are already attached!”
“What use is Zhang Xuan’s communication now?”
“I don’t care what you say—I know if there’s a lead, suspects must be caught!”
“Indecision only brings chaos!”
“Director Chen, I’m going!”
With that, she turned and left.
Fang Yocai gritted his teeth but was helpless.
Director Chen remained silent.
Just as Lin Yue opened the door, a somewhat familiar voice came from behind: “Brother, don’t blow it up!”
At the same time, Director Chen’s voice sounded: “Captain Lin, wait a moment.”
Inside the ancient tomb,
Zhou Cheng suddenly looked at Zhou Zeyi and Tally.
Obviously,
They had also heard Zhang Xuan’s words.
Zhou Zeyi gave Zhou Cheng a meaningful glance, as if telling him to ask Zhang Xuan for the reason.
Zhou Cheng quickly understood and said, “What’s wrong, Brother Xuan?”
Zhang Xuan’s voice came with a hint of frustration: “I’m about to lose my mind.”
“You Southern School folks have always looked down on the Northern School, thinking they’re rough and lack technique, and have nothing good to do.”
“So how come as soon as we get here, we look like a bunch of fools?”
“Always ready to blow things up!”
“Are you guys from the Southern School demolition geniuses or what?”
Zhou Zeyi’s face turned ashen from the remark and waved his hand at the tall man.
The tall man, a bit far away and not catching Zhang Xuan’s words clearly, put down the detonator and walked over with a puzzled look.
“Are you complimenting me as a demolition genius?”
