Chapter 21: Qilin Blood, Bronze Coffin!
The Livestream!
Zhang Xuan gave a wry, speechless smile. He hadn’t expected these people to be so bold. Not only did they show no intention of turning back after everything that had been said, but it also seemed they were prepared to see their grave-robbing mission through to the end.
Truth be told, while their actions were reprehensible to the cultural heritage authorities, a flicker of anticipation stirred in his heart. If not for these grave robbers, this ancient tomb would likely have remained buried deep in the mountains, never to see the light of day.
He was a transmigrator, and in his past life, he had been an antique dealer operating in the gray market. In his view, there was no real moral distinction between grave robbers and archaeological excavators—at least not when it came to those who followed traditional lineages and observed the rules of their ancestors, rather than those mere bandits driven purely by greed. Often, the practices of archaeological teams were actually worse than those of professional grave robbers who followed a code. At the very least, rule-abiding robbers took only one item out of ten, were greedy but not devoid of ethics, and certainly didn’t dig up the tomb owner only to turn them into a mummy for display in a museum ticket booth.
[Congratulations to the host for successfully identifying the Western Zhou Emperor’s Taotie Dragon-Pattern Ding!]
[Congratulations to the host for receiving a draw chance worth one hundred million!]
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the system’s voice.
"Wait... a draw chance worth one hundred million?" Zhang Xuan nearly fell off his chair. "Holy crap! Does this mean I’m going to draw a hundred million in cash?"
The golden treasure chest was infinitely tempting. Visions of various treasures flying out of the chest flashed through his mind automatically. He took a deep breath and chose to confirm the draw.
Amidst a dazzling golden light, a black shadow suddenly emerged. It appeared to be a divine beast, stepping on black clouds, with two horns upon its head and a body covered in armor.
"A Black Qilin?" He widened his eyes.
Before he could react, the Black Qilin lunged directly into his body! A massive surge of power instantly caused him to lose control of his limbs, and he tumbled off his chair. Nearly one hundred thousand viewers in the livestream were shocked by his bizarre behavior.
"?????"
"Did he just cast a spell?"
"Is the streamer so excited he’s taking flight?"
"666!"
"Is this for show? A way to celebrate the hundred thousand milestone?"
"Brother Xuan?" Seeing Zhang Xuan lying on the floor without movement, the viewers in the chat were confused, and some had even begun typing out the number for the police.
[Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Qilin bloodline!]
Zhang Xuan felt his head buzzing; his skin was both painful and itchy, as if he were being soaked in boiling medicinal liquid. As the sensation intensified, he felt as if his body were about to tear apart. But just as he reached the brink of collapse, his mind suddenly cleared, and he regained control of his body in an instant. The pain and numbness receded like a retreating tide.
He climbed back onto his chair, looking dazed. The viewers were even more confused.
"6!"
"Did Brother Xuan have a stroke? Why does he look so weird?"
"Doesn't the streamer look a bit different? There’s a mysterious aura about him."
"Is he possessed?"
Across the connection, Zhou Cheng seemed to notice something wrong, whispering, "Brother Xuan, are you alright?"
Zhang Xuan took a deep breath. He felt filled with strength, his mind was exceptionally clear, and he possessed an inexhaustible amount of energy. Even his slightly nearsighted eyes had become incredibly sharp. In just a few minutes, his entire body had undergone a earth-shattering transformation.
"Is this the hundred million worth of Qilin bloodline? What a bargain!" He felt ecstatic. He took a deep breath and said, "I'm fine. Brother, can you still hear me?"
As soon as he finished, he heard Zhou Cheng cough. "I can."
Zhang Xuan blinked, his expression turning serious again. "Brother, stop looking at that Ding. Turn around where you are and shine your flashlight behind you. Do you see anything?"
Inside the ancient tomb, Zhou Cheng’s pupils suddenly contracted. Under the white circle of his flashlight, about ten meters away on a stone platform, a massive, dark-green coffin with protruding dragon patterns sat silently before him.
"A... a coffin!" His throat bobbed, his voice filled with shock.
The coffin was at the far end of the palace, hidden from the light of the eternal lamps, and because the foot of the coffin was facing the main hall, they hadn't noticed it before.
Zhou Zeyi and the others, who were busy studying the human-beast patterns, heard the change in Zhou Cheng’s voice. "What coffin?"
Teli turned his head and suddenly saw the bronze coffin in the white light. His heart skipped a beat. "Holy crap! We’ve actually reached the main burial chamber!" He began to walk excitedly toward the bronze coffin. For a grave robber, a coffin held a temptation branded into their very bones.
The thin man and Zhou Zeyi were immediately drawn in as well. The thin man’s eyes glowed as he muttered, "What a huge coffin! And it has dragon pattern reliefs on it! Heh heh, Third Master, I think the penalty for this would be more than just having our nine generations wiped out!"
Zhou Zeyi remained silent, but his small eyes glinted with sharp, greedy light. Zhou Cheng reflexively followed them. But just as he took a step, he heard Zhang Xuan’s stern voice through his earpiece: "Stop!"
Zhou Cheng snapped out of it. "What’s wrong?"
"Make them stop too!" Zhang Xuan said in a deep voice.
Hearing the gravity in Zhang Xuan’s tone, Zhou Cheng hurriedly shouted to the three, "Third Uncle, you can’t go over there!"
But Teli simply waved his hand and laughed, "Scared? It’s fine, come over and watch how the Third Master and I open a coffin!"
Zhou Zeyi and the thin man ignored Zhou Cheng entirely.
"Brother Xuan, they won’t listen to me," Zhou Cheng said, feeling frustrated.
Zhang Xuan sighed in his earpiece. "Sigh, it seems I really can’t rely on you. Fine, just stay back yourself. If they want to court death, let them."
Zhou Cheng was surprised. "Is it really that extreme?"
Zhang Xuan let out a cold hum. "Wait and see."
The audience in the livestream was getting excited too. They had seen that bronze coffin clearly. It was not only massive but carved with winding dragon patterns. Needless to say, the person lying inside had to be royalty. They didn't quite understand why Zhang Xuan wouldn't let them get close, but recalling their previous experience in the Corpse-Accumulation Cave, ominous images began to form in their minds.
"Brother Xuan, are we about to start a horror livestream again?"
"This guy is useless, Brother Xuan, don't count on him!"
"I think that Third Uncle is a tough nut to crack; let's see what they find when they open the coffin!"
"Brother Xuan, with a stream like this, haven't the police come looking for you yet?"
Facing the barrage of comments, Zhang Xuan didn't respond. He stared fixedly at the bronze coffin. Perhaps the Qilin bloodline had unlocked his sixth sense, but even through the screen, he could feel a terrifying aura surging from within the bronze coffin.
He took a deep breath. "People are really going to die here..."
