Volume One, Chapter 10: I'll Go Take a Shower First and Wait for You
“Dad, why are you just getting back? Is that bastard Chen Feng dead yet?”
As soon as Cheng Chusheng returned, Cheng Sanfei hurriedly approached him with a pressing question.
“No.”
Cheng Chusheng waved his hand and sat down.
“What? Master Jiu isn’t willing to help? Ten million isn’t enough? Need to offer more?”
Cheng Sanfei sat beside Cheng Chusheng, anxiously fidgeting.
“Master Jiu did intervene, but he failed. The people he sent were killed!”
“On the way back, I asked a friend to check. Longmen has been smashed up!”
Cheng Chusheng looked at Cheng Sanfei and said, “Looks like we’ve hit a brick wall this time. Chen Feng isn’t as simple as we thought. He has people backing him, and their power is huge!”
To dare to attack Longmen—it’s hard to find many places in Xin Hai City that could pull that off.
“Is it really that serious? Chen Feng is just a rustic villager, a reckless newcomer to Xin Hai. What kind of background could he possibly have?”
“Longmen has done so many despicable things; it’s normal for their enemies to retaliate. I think this is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with Chen Feng!”
Cheng Sanfei stubbornly refused to believe Chen Feng had any backing.
He even checked—Chen Feng isn’t from Xin Hai, comes from nothing, has no family, just a lone orphan.
An orphan with nothing—where would any background come from?
Experience makes the old wise, and Cheng Chusheng seemed to sense danger. He waved his hand. “Sanfei, let’s put Chen Feng’s matter aside for now. Your priority is to prepare well for tomorrow night’s Welcome Gala of the Qincheng Group.”
“Make a good impression behind the scenes for the CEO. Maybe he’ll be in a good mood and promote you to vice president on the spot.”
Cheng Sanfei, displeased that Chen Feng hadn’t been taken out, got up and went to his room.
Watching him leave so dissatisfied, Cheng Chusheng felt helpless. He picked up his phone and made a call.
“Help me find the most detailed information on a young man named Chen Feng who recently came to Xin Hai.”
“Cheng Ge, wait just a minute!” came a delicate female voice from the other end.
“All right!”
After a few tens of seconds, the girl replied, “Cheng Ge, Chen Feng is under twenty, an orphan since childhood...”
“Anything else? Is that all?” Cheng Sanfei had already told him all that.
Cheng Chusheng didn’t believe Chen Feng’s background was that simple. Why would someone secretly help him? Why even smash Longmen?
Cheng Sanfei said it was Longmen’s enemies and just coincidence, but Cheng Chusheng didn’t buy it.
There’s no such thing as coincidence.
Longmen sent martial artists to kill Chen Feng who were mysteriously assassinated, then Longmen got smashed—this can’t be a coincidence.
“Cheng Ge, anything else I can help with?”
The voice continued.
“Can you find out who smashed Longmen tonight?”
Cheng Chusheng wasn’t sure if she could find that out.

The next morning.
Dressed sharply, Cheng Sanfei drove the newly arrived Ferrari straight to the Liu family’s estate.
“Young Master Cheng, didn’t you say you’d pick us up this afternoon? Why so early...?”
“I just wanted to see Miss Liu Ruyan. Is she not up yet?”
Cheng Sanfei looked around but saw no sign of Liu Ruyan.
“She went to the company early this morning,” Su Xuemei replied.
The Liu family’s business is a construction company with many affairs and complexities.
“All right, I’ll go to the company to find her!”
Cheng Sanfei said, then turned to leave.
“Wait, Young Master Cheng!”
Su Xuemei stopped him.
“Su Aunty, do you need anything else? Oh, by the way, for tonight’s Qincheng Group Welcome Gala, you can go by yourself. Call me when you get there; I’ll come pick you up.”
Cheng Sanfei thought Su Xuemei was worried he wouldn’t take her, so he explained.
“Young Master Cheng, I want to tell you, Ruyan is still a virgin; she hasn’t been with that bastard Chen Feng!”
Su Xuemei explained.
“Uh... how do you know that, Aunty?”
“Well, for your sake, I forced Ruyan to get a medical checkup—pure as ever!” Su Xuemei said, handing the report to Cheng Sanfei.
Cheng Sanfei glanced at the report, pretending indifference as he returned it, “Aunty, you really underestimate me. I’m sincere about Miss Ruyan; I wouldn’t care about that.”
“Besides, Ruyan isn’t a fool. How could she give something so important to a rustic nobody?”
“Su Aunty, hold on, I’m going to find Miss Ruyan now!”
Cheng Sanfei dashed off quickly; he didn’t want to waste another word with Su Xuemei, who was so full of snobbery.
On the way, Cheng Sanfei felt smug. “Su Xuemei, Su Xuemei, do you really think I’d marry Liu Ruyan? If I married her, what about Murong Lan?”
“You crave wealth and status, but I’m after your daughter’s body—hehe!”
When he arrived at the Liu family’s construction company, he found out Liu Ruyan hadn’t even come to work.
“Damn it, Liu Ruyan, you slut, you must have gone to a hotel with that bastard Chen Feng again. Just wait!”
Cheng Sanfei fumed, slamming the accelerator as if he wanted to burn the gas tank.

At the hotel.
“Feng Gege, why aren’t you leaving yet? Don’t you know how dangerous your situation is?”
Liu Ruyan saw Chen Feng still sound asleep and grew anxious. How could he be so careless?
He had twice angered Cheng Sanfei and offended the Qincheng Group. What good could come of it?
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me,” Chen Feng got up and smiled.
“What good? Hurry up and leave!”
Liu Ruyan took out a plane ticket and handed it to Chen Feng. “If you don’t want me to worry, leave immediately.”
Turning her back, biting her lip, she continued, “And don’t come looking for me again. If there’s another life, I’ll marry you then!”
By then, Liu Ruyan was sobbing uncontrollably, covering her mouth as she ran off.
“Ruyan, don’t go! Listen to me...”
Chen Feng’s pleading didn’t stop her. She pressed the elevator button and went downstairs.
“Miss Ruyan, why are you crying?”
Just stepping out of the elevator, Liu Ruyan ran into the one person she least wanted to see—Cheng Sanfei.
He stood at the front desk holding a room key card.
He was a notorious playboy, who loved one, played one, and then tossed one aside—a complete scoundrel.
“None of your business!”
Liu Ruyan dodged past Cheng Sanfei and strode away.
“Stop!”
Cheng Sanfei shouted after her.
Liu Ruyan didn’t stop and kept walking toward the exit.
“Chen Feng is still upstairs, right? If you leave, I guarantee he won’t walk out of this hotel alive!”
Cheng Sanfei threatened loudly. Liu Ruyan stopped in her tracks.
“What exactly do you want?”
She turned back, glaring at Cheng Sanfei with anger.
Cheng Sanfei grinned darkly and stepped forward, lifting Liu Ruyan’s chin.
“You went to a hotel with a bumpkin. Do you think I’m happy?”
“The Qincheng Group Welcome Gala is still a while away. I’ve booked a room here too. You know what to do, right?”
Saying this, Cheng Sanfei shoved the key card into Liu Ruyan’s hand and pinched her buttocks before leaving.
“I’ll go shower and wait for you!”
