Volume One, Chapter 85: Failure to Establish the Foundation
Foundation Establishment!
This realm marks a watershed. Upon reaching it, one is truly considered to have set foot on the path of cultivation. Not only does the body undergo a complete refinement, expelling all impurities, but one’s lifespan can extend beyond two centuries, and one can abstain from ordinary food for long periods—thus, one truly transcends the mortal state.
The archives of the Ten Thousand Scrolls Pavilion hold numerous records on this subject, including detailed accounts of how to break through to this stage.
To achieve Foundation Establishment, one must transform the spiritual energy within the body from a gaseous to a liquid state. Though his sea of energy was vast as an ocean, the spiritual power within had always remained gaseous. To establish a foundation, all of this must be transformed into liquid.
But first, a Foundation Establishment cultivation manual is needed.
He did possess such a manual: the one from the Golden Frost Sect…
Han Xiluo merely thought her stomach troubles were due to the exhaustion and hardship of her journey, never considering any other explanation.
Another problem was their lack of legal status; if he wanted to take them abroad, how would they even board a plane? Just thinking about it made his head ache—he might have to ask Billy for help finding a private jet again.
“Yes! I did lose my temper! That girl’s mind was wandering all evening while doing her assignments. I, stooping to help her, and she’s off daydreaming! Hmph! Such an ungrateful child!” Brian crossed his arms and spoke harshly.
I made no attempt to conceal the results as I laid them out. After this brief moment of reflection, Iron Donkey and the burly man had both calmed down enough to face this conclusion rationally.
“Mother, it’s best if we adults do not interfere in the affairs of children. Besides, they seem to be merely chatting, so there’s no need to worry,” Consort Li interjected with a gentle smile; yet as she finished speaking, a sly glint flashed through her eyes.
They found that wherever they might profit from some under-the-table dealings, Qin Chuan was intimately familiar with it all, issuing subtle warnings whether by accident or design. Any oversight in their work, Qin Chuan would spot at once.

But just as I was about to kiss her, several teachers came marching across the field, and I instinctively let go of Zhang Qianqian in fright.
And now, to top it off, an enchanting vixen four years my senior was joining in—trying to play mother. What in the world is going on?
Given that the strength of the enemy was unknown, it was decided not to send out disciples in the Qi Refining stage; if they encountered a Foundation Establishment level demonic cultivator, their fate would be sealed. After conferring with the heads of the various peaks, Lian Jing resolved to send out Foundation Establishment disciples in pairs to investigate.
In the end, it turned out nothing like I’d imagined. These days, everyone’s playing the money game; not everyone is driven by passion and conviction.
Some matters are not subject to equal treatment, and some people cannot compartmentalize their feelings. Often, there are things that only one person can truly enjoy.
“No, no, it’s not that—I just get nervous around you,” Dili Rouba waved her hands in denial.
Given all this, Shen Tao was determined to attend the auction. If there truly were pills on offer, it would be the perfect chance to gauge their quality.
To be honest, with the speed at which Brother Fangyan was developing, it would only take a year or two for him to reach great heights.
Meanwhile, the burly man who had just knocked over Ding Yumeng was now gripping a steel blade, locked in fierce combat with a masked assailant.
Wu Zhan frowned. Something was very strange—this was the first time he had absolutely no leads. These people’s actions were bizarre: always on the move, with no clear identity, killing themselves the instant they were caught. Why were they darting everywhere—what was their true aim?
“Looks like there’s no need to search any longer; we’ll soon arrive at the Immortal Gate,” Lin Xue murmured. Beneath her feet was a plaque, on which bold characters were inscribed.
Atop the city tower stood three men: Liu Du, the Prefect of Lingling; his son Liu Xian; and a mighty general—Xing Rongdao, a man of imposing stature and formidable strength.

“The Noble Family’s Tower?” Master Yuan looked up several times. The tower blazed with lights, a beacon in the night, but even after a long look he couldn’t make out anything unusual.
Li Qian stood by, listening to the conversation between the two, feeling at a loss for words. Was it just him, or did Fu Dianchen’s chances seem even slimmer than Ye Xian’s?
Yang Xing stood expressionless, suspended in the void. The fierce wind whipped his long hair and golden dragon robe. Suddenly, he moved. With his palms outstretched, the very essence of heaven and earth seemed to gather in his hands, and the powerful gales surged like raging waves in all directions.
Ring tossing was an old skill of his—he’d practiced it countless times. Snaring Wang Dazhuang should have been easy; he could even control where the loop landed for convenience. Yet strangely, no matter how many times he threw, the rope would slip off midair and fall.
The water sphere burst at last, freeing her to use her energy elsewhere. Master Yuan laughed with delight, only to open his eyes and find Dog Left and Tiger Jiao both keeping their distance, watching her warily.
The moment he received the letter, a wave of suffocation struck him. All his recent daydreams shattered like illusions in the water. He stared at the letter with desperate fixation—the secret code left by Xu Mo dashed his last sliver of hope.
The window faced the garden. Unattended, the flowers and grasses had grown wild and tangled, their former exuberance now turned to ruin.
‘Hmph, even if the boss is absent today, I won’t allow you to run amok here,’ growled the middle-aged man, his hair and beard bristling with anger.
Xu Mo couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, but before that breath was fully released, the light in the runes before the stone statue suddenly intensified, and the statue itself began to tremble.
The darkness endured for a long time—so long she could no longer bear it. Could it be that this was death? Would she never awaken again?
