Chapter 25: She looks like the kind of good girl who doesn't frequent nightclubs.
"Ah! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I'll go buy you a pack of cigarettes in a moment!"
The girl also felt her behavior was too reckless, but she had been so dizzy lately from the windfall that had fallen into her lap; her not-so-long trainee career was finally about to see the dawn.
Cha Lun-hoo stood up and steadied himself. Luckily, she hadn't stepped on his hand. This little girl was quite clumsy, walking without looking where she was going. Should he lecture her? At first glance, she didn't look very old, but her height was on par with Somi's. What were these kids born in the 2000s eating to grow like this? If Se-jeong had been properly nourished back then, could she have grown taller too?
Thinking of his poor younger sister, who hadn't eaten well since childhood and had once been obsessed with potatoes, he felt a pang of pity.
"Mr. Cha! Are you back at the company to work?"
Before Cha Lun-hoo could answer, the Jeonju girl behind the tall girl exclaimed. It was indeed that cat-faced girl. She wasn't wearing makeup today; her eyes were a bit small but very cute, and she looked soft and milky.
"Yes! It's Ye-ji! You've been working hard lately, right? Debut... is this a new member of the debut team?"
Cha Lun-hoo had intended to comfort Ye-ji, whose debut had been postponed, but looking at the proud, big-eyed tall girl beside her, he suddenly realized something. Was this the one who replaced the runaway Somi? She seemed unexpectedly suitable!
"Mr. Cha! Aren't you that hero from the news? I didn't expect you to be so handsome. Can I take a photo with you to show off to my friends?"
This long-legged girl looked quite sturdy, and her legs beneath the denim hot pants looked slender and strong. In terms of hardware, she was no less impressive than that "little pony." He just wondered about her talent, though Somi's talent was only so-so anyway.
Why did he keep thinking about that disobedient high schooler? She thought she had made up with him, but he didn't really want to deal with her. Whoever became her man would surely lose five years of their life.
"A photo is unnecessary. JYP really is full of hidden talent. This beautiful young lady clearly looks like a good girl who doesn't frequent clubs, drink, use foul language, or hit people."
Cha Lun-hoo's words made the young beauty show an awkward smile. Who praises someone like that? This handsome hero was quite eccentric.
"What's wrong? Lun-hoo, did you see someone you know? Making friends at the company so quickly?"
Suzy's voice came from behind. Looking at the crushed cigarette pack in the man's hand, she understood most of it. She joked around, quickly lightening the mood. The two young girls, upon seeing the major senior, bent their waists to 90 degrees. This "rabbit" had a high rank in the industry; despite her young age, she had already debuted eight years ago.
It turned out this girl named Yuna was born in 2003 and was only fifteen. It reminded Suzy of herself at that age, and she felt a sense of kinship, immediately offering to forgive the girl's recklessness on Cha Lun-hoo's behalf.
Suzy offered a few words of encouragement and expressed her anticipation for the new group, making the two girls' eyes twinkle. They promised to work hard to become artists like Senior Suzy.
"Do you really need a bodyguard in the company? Are anti-fans going to break in? But Senior Suzy is so beautiful and gentle!"
This little girl, Shin Yuna, was still a middle schooler, an age where she loved gossip. She muttered to the slightly older girl beside her, puzzled.
"Are you minding other people's business? Do you still want to debut? If the big senior had held a grudge against you, you'd be done for!"
Ye-ji was actually guessing too. She was a person who couldn't live without gossip, and her half-hometown friend was currently the talk of the internet; she was genuinely happy for him.
"If I can debut in the group, I'll probably be the maknae! The maknaes at JYP are always trending! Was Senior Suzy this age when she debuted?"
She couldn't be outdone. Ahn So-hee, Bae Suzy, and Chou Tzuyu seemed to possess her in that moment, filling her with a sense of strength. Let me, Shin Yuna, carry on this tradition!
"Fame really does come early! They're all cute kids. Big companies never lack high-quality trainees; anyone can be replaced. And that Somi, really, why did she have to run off like that?"
As he spoke, Cha Lun-hoo noticed his beautiful employer giving him a huge eye-roll. He realized his comment had a wide blast radius, but the situations of these two people couldn't be compared. One had caused chaos for the company's plans by running off on the eve of debut; the other was a founding contributor who had worked tirelessly for eight years, saved the company from crises, and even renewed her contract for two years to stabilize the stock price before pursuing her own goals.
Although some online claimed she was a master of ambiguity or a calculating person, in his eyes, this beautiful employer was genuinely decent. She had no issues with people or matters; her behavior was just the necessary means of surviving in the entertainment industry. People are understood through interaction, and he didn't believe anyone could fake such character to this extent.
The passport for the trip to Morocco was already prepared, and he was making relevant travel plans. The place was known as one of the world's three great countries for scammers, full of traps. Although this trip was for filming rather than a vacation, Suzy didn't want to waste the long journey.
The weather in Morocco in September could still reach thirty degrees, but it wasn't as scorching as the summer months of June or July. Although located in the northeast of Africa, it was a coastal Arab nation, and as a region with a highly developed tourism industry, it was quite secular.
"Lun-hoo! This is a famous ancient city! But since we're abroad, you have to protect me well!"
Suzy held her phone, very interested in the city founded in the 6th century BC. She felt that the bodyguard she paid for was finally coming in handy, and her longing for the blue sea had already sent her mind drifting elsewhere.
"It's a tourist city, how much danger could there be? But as long as I'm here, I won't let anything happen to you."
Cha Lun-hoo had never flown or traveled abroad in his life. If he had stayed in the military, perhaps he would have had the opportunity for short-term training in North Carolina, but going out for a stroll at the end of his bodyguard career wasn't a bad thing.
After briefly informing those around him, Se-jeong seemed a bit unhappy. Although he hadn't heard her say it, he felt the abnormality in her mood. Even though they had always called each other "good brother" and "good sister," he wasn't a fool; he knew Se-jeong had some hidden feelings.
Somi, on the other hand, was full of dissatisfaction. The "not-so-innocent" high schooler said that even though she invited him to eat, he was going to North Africa to fool around with Bae Suzy, as if he were bewitched by a vixen.
"Talking nonsense. How can you say that about a company senior? Even if you've left JYP, you shouldn't. I saw the member replacing you today; she's cute and her figure is no worse than yours. Most importantly, she's much more obedient than you."
Cha Lun-hoo thought of what he had seen today and couldn't help but think of that energetic tall girl. Even though she almost stepped on his fingers, he couldn't bring himself to dislike her.
However, he felt that the girl named Hwang Ye-ji was even cuter, especially when she looked distressed and scared; she seemed like the type who was easy to bully. In contrast, the aggressive and fierce Somi looked like a female villain.
The female villain was still chattering about her situation at school, complaining about how much discrimination she had faced because of her mixed-race appearance. Her tone was full of resentment, so Cha Lun-hoo could only set his phone aside, smoke, and wait for her to finish.
"Alright, alright. Isn't it the same if we eat when I get back? I'll bring you souvenirs, don't worry."
Cha Lun-hoo felt that once her contract with the "Black Factory" was exposed, she would likely be criticized heavily. He felt quite a bit of sympathy for her; she might be shouting loudly now, but she would have to face the music soon.
"Then you have to bring me the ethnic clothing from there. My measurements are..."
He didn't know if it was just her nature, but she didn't shy away from giving a man her measurements. This girl really didn't act like a high schooler. With her "foreign pony" genes, she really had everything when it came to her figure.
