Chapter 35: The Death of Ouyang Chenxi
Ouyang Xiaoyue held a sharp dagger, pressing it against the fair neck of Ouyang Chenxi. As she applied a slight pressure, a sharp sting instantly shot through Ouyang Chenxi’s entire body, and she clearly felt a stream of warm liquid trickling down her neck. Ouyang Chenxi’s eyes widened in terror, her face turning as pale as paper, yet she forced herself to remain calm, comforting herself incessantly: She wouldn't dare! She absolutely wouldn't dare do this!
However, Ouyang Xiaoyue did not stop at Ouyang Chenxi’s reaction. On the contrary, that nightmarish voice in her mind echoed incessantly, urging her onward. Consequently, she pushed the dagger forward a little more. The wound on Ouyang Chenxi’s neck deepened, and blood flowed more freely, quickly staining the collar of her dress crimson.
"Father! Save me! The Fourth Sister has gone mad!" Ouyang Chenxi could no longer maintain her composure; for the first time, the fear of death enveloped her with such visceral reality. She trembled uncontrollably, her back soaked in cold sweat. At this moment, the only lifeline she could think of was Ouyang Tianxing, standing not far away. She cried out to him desperately for help.
"You little beast, how dare you...!" Ouyang Tianxing’s voice erupted like a thunderclap beside Ouyang Xiaoyue’s ear, jolting her from her chaotic trance. Ouyang Tianxing’s eyes bulged, his body instinctively lunging forward, but then he caught sight of the dagger in Ouyang Xiaoyue’s hand pushing further into Ouyang Chenxi’s flesh.
At this instant, the sharp tip of the blade was pressed against Ouyang Chenxi’s throat; a single movement from Ouyang Xiaoyue would send her to the netherworld!
In a flash, Ouyang Tianxing was as if struck by a paralysis spell, his feet rooted to the spot, not daring to advance another inch. Beads of sweat as large as peas rolled down his forehead, and his voice trembled with fear and tension: "Ouyang Xiaoyue, what exactly do you want!"
Ouyang Xiaoyue glanced at Ouyang Tianxing expressionlessly. That icy gaze seemed to come from the depths of the nine nether hells, carrying an infinite murderous intent that chilled the marrow.
"Yue'er, don't be impulsive, Brother is fine!" Ouyang Xiaofeng, standing to the side, was frantic with anxiety. He stared fixedly at his sister’s every move, his heart nearly leaping out of his throat.
He knew well that Yue'er was acting out of such fury solely because of his own injuries. If she were to kill Ouyang Chenxi now, she would surely be unable to escape the consequences. Yet, he was nothing but a complete waste, utterly incapable of protecting his sister. At this thought, Ouyang Xiaofeng was filled with guilt, hating his own incompetence.
Hearing her brother’s cry, Ouyang Xiaoyue turned slightly to look at him. The moment their eyes met, she clearly sensed the worry and plea for restraint in his gaze. Simultaneously, her hand gripping the dagger stiffened involuntarily. Clearly, her brother did not want her to kill.
She looked faintly at the dagger in her hand, hesitating, when she lifted her eyes and saw a dark shadow quietly approaching Ouyang Xiaofeng.
Her beautiful eyes narrowed, a cold light flickering within them. A thick, palpable murderous intent permeated the air, causing everyone present to tremble and turn pale with shock.
Suddenly, the dagger in her hand slashed through the air with a speed almost too fast to track. With a soft "swish," a horrifying bloodstain appeared across Ouyang Chenxi’s throat.
Blood gushed out, staining her fair neck and clothes. Ouyang Chenxi’s eyes widened in disbelief. She could never have imagined that this "useless" girl would be so bold and ruthless.
At the same time, the searing pain from her neck flooded her senses like a tide, crashing against her nerves again and again. The agony was so sharp and intense that her body began to shake uncontrollably. Gradually, she felt her strength draining away, her legs unable to support her heavy frame, and she collapsed slowly toward the ground.
In the final moment before her consciousness faded, Ouyang Chenxi had only one thought: I don't want to die, I really don't want to die...
However, it was already too late.
"Chenxi! You little monster, how dare you!" With a furious roar, Ouyang Tianxing’s eyes burned with rage. Seeing his beloved daughter fall into a pool of blood, his heart was filled with boundless anger and sorrow. At this moment, he was like an enraged lion, radiating a terrifying aura.
In the blink of an eye, Ouyang Tianxing’s figure shot toward Ouyang Xiaoyue like a cannonball at an astonishing speed. As he passed, the air surged, creating a howling gale.
"Mistress—" Xiao Ling cried out in alarm upon seeing this, wanting to intervene but failing to reach her in time.
"Yue'er!!" Ouyang Xiaofeng’s shrill cry also rose from the crowd. But at this moment, he could only watch the tragedy unfold, utterly helpless.
