Chapter 34: Under the Spell
In an instant, everyone present was stunned. That powerful surge of spiritual energy had been aimed directly at Ouyang Xiaoyue. Just as it was about to strike, Ouyang Xiaofeng rushed forward without a moment's hesitation, spreading his arms to pull her tightly into his embrace.
With a loud "bang," the spiritual energy slammed heavily into Ouyang Xiaofeng. As a mere mortal with no spiritual power, taking such a ferocious and brutal hit head-on would likely result in more than just torn flesh and blood—it would be no surprise if he were left critically injured and on the brink of death.
Ouyang Xiaoyue's fingers trembled slightly, and she froze. She slowly raised her eyes, meeting Ouyang Xiaofeng’s gaze. Despite the pain etched across his face, he still managed to squeeze out a faint smile to comfort her. Yet, subconsciously, Ouyang Xiaoyue pushed him away with a sudden, violent force.
The unexpected shove caused Ouyang Xiaofeng to lose his balance, swaying as if he were about to collapse. Fortunately, Ouyang Xiaoyue reacted quickly, catching him just in time.
Once Ouyang Xiaofeng regained his footing, she let him go gently.
"Yue'er..." Ouyang Xiaofeng whispered softly, slowly lifting his gaze to meet her eyes, which were now cold beyond measure. Deep down, he knew she would never look at him with such indifference, but at the moment their eyes met, an indescribable fear welled up from the depths of his soul, causing him to shiver involuntarily.
At that moment, Ouyang Tianxing shouted with a hint of impatience, "What are you waiting for? Tie him up and take him away!" As he spoke, he glanced quickly at his daughter, his expression unsettlingly calm, as if the sneak attack that had just occurred were of no consequence at all.
It was not just Ouyang Tianxing; the onlookers were equally indifferent to Ouyang Xiaofeng’s injury. Far from showing any concern, they wore mocking expressions, waiting for the next scene in the drama to unfold.
However, a voice drifted through the air. It was not loud, yet it felt as if it had emerged from the deepest reaches of the underworld—chilling, eerie, and bone-deep. The young girl spoke coldly, "You hurt my brother. You deserve to die." As her words faded, she slowly raised her head. Her pupils, once dark as ink, now resembled bottomless, frigid pools, staring straight into the crowd and sending shivers down their spines.
For a moment, everyone felt enveloped by an inexplicable terror. A chill, like a venomous snake, crept up from their feet and burrowed deep into their souls. When they finally regained their composure, their faces were pale with horror.
They were terrified to realize that they felt fear toward someone they had always dismissed as a waste. It was a humiliation.
She stepped forward unhurriedly, her movements as graceful as a noble goddess.
At the same time, the fire fox, Xiaoling, which had been resting quietly in her arms, seemed to sense a summons; it leaped lightly and landed steadily on her shoulder. In her other hand, a shimmering dagger appeared from nowhere.
"You..." someone began, their voice trembling, but the words were choked back before they could be fully uttered.
Just then, a voice echoed in Ouyang Xiaoyue’s mind: "Kill her! Kill her now!" The voice was like a demonic whisper, relentlessly urging her to act. And so, under the gaze of everyone, Ouyang Xiaoyue stepped toward Ouyang Chenxi, the sharp blade in her hand pressing firmly against her throat without hesitation.
In an instant, the sharp tip of the dagger pierced Ouyang Chenxi’s delicate skin. A streak of vivid blood sprayed out, trickling down her pale neck and staining her clothes a deep crimson.
"Ouyang Xiaoyue!" A thunderous roar erupted from the crowd, crashing against everyone's ears like a clap of thunder. The voice was filled with such rage and authority that it shook the hearts of all present.
Just then, another voice called out in desperation, "Yue'er!" But Ouyang Xiaoyue, as if under a spell, remained completely deaf to the noise around her. Her beautiful eyes were locked onto Ouyang Chenxi, burning with a madness and resolve that knew no bounds.
