Chapter 26: Auntie, You Must Not Drink That!
"If you can't look, then don't look." For the first time, Su Xingwan found herself without a reason to persuade them.
"But Auntie, I already saw it."
"I saw it too, Auntie!" little Su Luo added.
Su Xingwan felt even more awkward.
Seeing the woman about to drink the beverage, little Su Hua stood up from her chair in a rush. "Auntie! You can't drink that water!"
Little Su Hua’s voice was loud, and Zuo Kerong turned her head to look at her.
Little Su Hua didn't dare to go over, perhaps recalling past experiences, so she tugged at her aunt's sleeve. "Auntie, that lady's drink has a problem."
Su Xingwan asked, puzzled, "What kind of problem?"
Little Su Hua articulated clearly, "Someone sprinkled white powder inside."
Su Xingwan was startled, and Zuo Kerong, having overheard this, also turned pale. This was because the drink had been given to her by her boyfriend.
Zuo Kerong walked over and said gently to little Su Hua, "Little one, did you see someone put white powder in my drink?"
Little Su Hua knew the person in front of her was a kind lady, so she wasn't afraid.
"Yes," she nodded.
"And who was it that put it in my drink?" Zuo Kerong wanted to confirm her suspicions.
"It was..." Just as little Su Hua was about to speak, the bad uncle immediately walked over and said viciously, "What nonsense are you spouting here, you brat?"
Frightened by the man’s face, little Su Hua quickly hid behind her aunt.
Zuo Kerong pulled her boyfriend back, displeased. "Don't speak to a child like that. You scared her."
Yi Fan, however, was dismissive. "Like parents, like child."
Su Xingwan was enraged upon hearing this. "What do you mean by that?"
Yi Fan sneered, "Can't you understand what I mean?"
Su Xingwan retorted, "So, it’s because you have parents like yours that you grew up to be such a rude child, is that it?"
Caught off guard by her jab, Yi Fan was so angry he wanted to strike her, but Zuo Kerong quickly held him back. Her boyfriend had always been calm and polite in front of her; why did he seem like a different person today?
Seeing his girlfriend’s angry face, Yi Fan immediately realized what he had done. He had only lashed out because the child had tried to expose his actions, causing him to panic.
"Kerong, I just couldn't stand being slandered by others, that's why..."
However, a seed of doubt had already taken root in Zuo Kerong’s heart.
"Alright, alright. Let's go. Don't disturb others."
With that, she sat back down at her table, and the man followed her back to his seat.
"Kerong, if you're worried that there's something wrong with this drink, shall I go and get you a new one?" Yi Fan said with a look of deep affection.
Zuo Kerong nodded; after what had just happened, she no longer dared to drink it.
Seeing the lady pour out the drink, little Su Hua felt relieved. Su Xingwan was not the type to meddle in others' affairs, so seeing the situation settle, she went back to eating.
After Yi Fan helped his girlfriend discard the drink, he cursed inwardly.
*[Damn that wretched brat, a perfect opportunity wasted for nothing!]*
Hearing the bad uncle cursing her, little Su Hua kept her head down in silence.
Yi Fan continued.
*[I hid it so well when I sprinkled the powder, how could that kid possibly have seen it?]*
*[It seems I’ll have to be more careful from now on. I absolutely cannot let this Zuo Kerong figure anything out, or else I won't get a single cent.]*
To make up for his earlier outburst that nearly exposed his true colors, Yi Fan put on an even more convincing act, showering his girlfriend with care and even feeding her by hand.
The surrounding customers, seeing such an affectionate young couple, felt a pang of envy.
By the time they finished their meal and left, little Su Hua finally dared to speak up. "Auntie, the uncle next to that lady is a bad uncle."
Su Xingwan asked, "Why do you say that?"
Little Su Hua leaned in and whispered, "Auntie, I saw that bad uncle pour white powder into that lady's drink."
Su Xingwan was surprised. No wonder the man had suddenly lashed out at a child; he had been caught doing something bad and was acting out of desperation.
Little Su Hua continued, "Auntie, that bad uncle wants the lady's money, that's why he was going to… drug her."
As soon as she finished, her brother quickly covered her mouth. He whispered very softly into her ear, "Little sister, your superpower cannot be discovered..."
Su Xingwan: "..."
"Luoluo, Auntie has already discovered it."
It wasn't the first or second time the siblings had whispered in front of her. She couldn't help but remind them, "Luobao, you were speaking quite loudly; Auntie can hear you."
Suddenly, little Su Luo opened his eyes wide, filled with surprise and confusion. As a little boy, he didn't understand why, but knowing that Auntie could hear them, he felt a strange sense of guilt and unease, and he lowered his head, not daring to look at her.
Little Su Hua looked at her brother. "Brother, she is our Auntie. I won't be taken away by bad guys."
She had Auntie to protect her; she was very safe.
Hearing his sister's words, little Su Luo had a sudden realization. He scratched his head. "That's true, Auntie isn't a bad person."
His older brother had once warned him not to tell bad aunts or any strangers about their superpowers, but Auntie had changed for the better now. He then cast a shy glance at her.
Su Xingwan smiled and ruffled his furry hair. "Luobao, you mustn't whisper in front of others anymore, okay?"
Little Su Luo nodded. "I know, Auntie."
Su Xingwan looked at little Su Hua again. "Huabao, you said that bad uncle wants the lady's money, right?"
Little Su Hua looked up. "Yes, he wants to hurt that lady."
"How did you find that out?"
Little Su Hua smiled sweetly. "I found out using my superpower."
Su Xingwan: "..." That was as good as saying nothing.
Little Su Hua added, "Auntie, I can tell who is a good person and who is a bad person."
Su Xingwan: "So you think that uncle is a bad person who will harm the lady."
"That's right!" little Su Hua said happily.
Su Xingwan understood; this was little Su Hua's superpower. She thought to herself that Huabao’s intuition was just sharper than others, so when she saw the man drugging his girlfriend, she perceived him as someone intending harm.
System: *[You really are genius babies; even after all that, your aunt still doesn't get it.]*
Hearing this, little Su Luo’s eyes flashed with confusion. What did the System mean?
After finishing their meal, the two little ones needed to use the restroom. Su Xingwan took them to the mall's washroom.
A short while later, as they emerged, they saw the couple again. The man’s hands were full of shopping bags, and judging by the packaging, they were all men’s goods.
Zuo Kerong smiled at her boyfriend, "I bought you so many things today. Are you feeling happier now?"
