Chapter 21: Surely the Plot Won't Unfold This Soon?
"Uncle! You cannot steal that lady's wallet! That is wrong; otherwise, the police uncle will come and take you away."
Even though little Su Hua was covered in dirt, her eyes remained clear and pure.
When the man heard the little girl’s words, his cloudy eyes widened in alarm. Realizing that she had heard his inner thoughts, he tried to snatch her away. If it hadn't been for her brother’s quick thinking and timely discovery, the little girl would have been abducted by that foul-smelling, wicked man.
Ever since that day, the little girl had become incredibly timid. Her brother had warned her never to tell anyone about her special ability. However, today, she had been falsely accused, and he could not bear to see her being wronged by those adults.
The adults, upon hearing little Su Luo’s words, dismissed them as nothing more than a child’s naive babbling.
"Has this little boy been watching too many cartoons?"
"Your sister is lying, and instead of stopping her, you’re aiding and abetting her? This kind of behavior is not right."
A flash of confusion crossed little Su Luo’s eyes.
[System, the uncles and aunties don't believe my sister has superpowers.]
System: ...
[Of course they wouldn't believe it.]
Little Su Luo was puzzled. [Then why did that dirty, wicked uncle believe it before?]
System: [Your sister didn't accurately read all of their minds, so naturally, they wouldn't believe her.]
Little Su Luo still didn't understand, scratching his little head.
Seeing that the adults did not believe her, little Su Hua said aggrievedly, "Auntie, I am not lying."
Su Xingwan stroked her head and looked at the crowd. "I believe my children would not lie."
Zhou Zhu scoffed. "Do you have any proof? Just because you say I scolded you?"
Su Xingwan paused. "Unless you scolded us in your heart and the little ones just happened to sense it."
Of course, this was just a bluff to test Zhou Zhu. No sooner had she finished speaking than she saw Zhou Zhu’s body stiffen, a look of disbelief flashing across her eyes.
Su Xingwan: "..."
She hadn't expected to actually hit the mark.
Hearing this, everyone wondered to themselves: Could Zhou Zhu have actually been scolding the children in her heart? Given her attitude toward her own son just moments ago, she was certainly capable of it. After all, who hasn't felt bitter and cursed someone internally while not daring to say it out loud?
Before Ye Yixing left the grand hotel, he felt a strange urge to see the two children again. However, before he even reached the entrance, he heard a commotion inside. A group of adults had gathered around some crying children, and it seemed the two children he was thinking of had been falsely accused of something.
"What are you all arguing about in here?"
As his voice fell, everyone turned in unison to look at the man who had suddenly appeared. They were stunned. Ye... Young Master Ye was actually here? Did this mean he intended to involve himself in their affairs?
Zhou Zhu, having encountered Ye Yixing a few times through her husband's work, hurried over. "Young Master Ye, you’ve come at the right time. Won't you seek justice for my son and me? This group of people is bullying my son and slandering me by saying I cursed Su Xingwan’s children."
The crowd was shocked by Zhou Zhu’s shamelessness. They had always considered her a respectable person—her husband was a high-level executive at a major company, and they had often shown her deference and even curried favor with her. Seeing her true colors now, they realized she had dropped the pretense entirely.
Ye Yixing hadn't heard anything else, only the news that Su Xingwan had children. Su Xingwan, a woman he always thought was only interested in social climbing, actually had children? When he realized the two children Zhou Zhu was pointing at were the same ones he had encountered earlier, he was stunned. His brow twitched involuntarily. They were actually Su Xingwan’s children?
The two children were somewhat surprised to see the uncle again.
Ye Yixing’s gaze shifted to Su Xingwan. This time, he noticed something different. Although Su Xingwan hadn't said a word from start to finish, he felt as though she had changed. He dismissed it as his own imagination and leaned down to ask the children, "Is Su Xingwan your aunt?"
The two children looked up. "Yes! Uncle, have you met our aunt?"
Ye Yixing’s brow twitched again. Met her? Not only had he met her, but he had also thrown her out of his office not long ago. He remembered the children telling him earlier not to speak ill of their aunt. Now, he could only think: You were right; your uncle here really did speak ill of your aunt.
Su Xingwan looked at him with confusion. After Ye Yixing learned the sequence of events from the children, his gaze deepened. The two little ones were looking at him so imploringly, as if they wanted him to uphold justice for them. Very well, he would play the villain today. He wasn't a particularly good person anyway.
Seeing that Young Master Ye knew the children and seemed to be favoring them, Zhou Zhu panicked. Didn't people say Young Master Ye couldn't stand Su Xingwan?
"Young Master Ye... you?"
Ye Yixing’s expression suddenly turned dark and intimidating. In the years he had spent following his cousin, he hadn't learned much, but he had certainly picked up how to project an imposing, intimidating aura.
"So, it was your son who knocked her down and then cursed the three of them in his heart?"
Zhou Zhu’s face drained of color. Was Young Master Ye planning to stand up for Su Xingwan?
"Young… Young Master Ye, this is all a misunderstanding! I will have my son apologize to Su Xingwan and the children right now."
Zhou Zhu hurriedly pressed her son’s head down to make him nod toward the children. Liu Yu followed his mother’s instructions and quickly apologized to Su Hua. Zhou Zhu then apologized to Su Xingwan as well.
However, Ye Yixing was not about to let it slide so easily. A mere apology was far too lenient for this mother and son.
"Your name is Zhou Zhu, right? Who is your husband? You have no real talent, yet you dare to bully children without parents here!"
As Ye Yixing reached for his phone to make a call, Zhou Zhu fell to her knees in a panic. "Young Master Ye, I know I was wrong! Please don't let my husband lose his job. From now on, whenever I see Su Xingwan, I’ll walk the other way."
Ye Yixing raised an eyebrow. "That won't do. I, Ye Yixing, never go back on my word!"
Su Xingwan spoke up from the side: "Let it go. An apology from Zhou Zhu is enough. Thank you, Young Master Ye, for today." She didn't want to cause someone to lose their livelihood; she knew how hard it was to find work.
Ye Yixing looked at her in surprise, then turned and left.
Once everyone had dispersed, little Su Hua hugged her leg. "Auntie, Auntie."
Su Xingwan crouched down and looked at the two children. "Have you two met that uncle before?"
The children nodded in unison. "We have!"
Su Xingwan: !!!
Oh no, the children had met their little uncle's relative so soon. Could the plot really be moving this fast? The eldest hadn't even been swapped back yet!
Little Su Luo added, "Auntie, that uncle wanted to take pictures of me and my sister."
Su Xingwan was startled. "Pictures? Did you let him?"
