Chapter Thirty-One: An Unexpected Delight
In the afternoon, they arrived at the film set in Li Feng’s car. Just as she had imagined, most of the extras were whispering and pointing, making Zhou Xiaoqi feel extremely uncomfortable.
“It’s all your fault. I told you we shouldn’t come together. See, now I’m not used to this at all,” Zhou Xiaoqi muttered quietly in complaint.
Li Feng, seeing Zhou Xiaoqi like this, actually felt happier. He comforted her as one would a beloved, his eyes full of affection, though Zhou Xiaoqi herself failed to see it so clearly.
“All right, I know I was wrong. I just thought it would be more convenient this way. If you don’t like it, I won’t do it again next time,” Li Feng reassured her, guiding Zhou Xiaoqi and Xue Ran through the crowd, regardless of their stares and whispers.
Li Feng played a master demon hunter in this drama, a man of great martial skill. Zhou Xiaoqi’s role was a minor character, meant to seduce and assassinate the demon hunter played by Li Feng, only to be discovered and killed by him.
When Zhou Xiaoqi emerged wearing the costume prepared by the crew, she stunned everyone present—a true beauty from ancient times. She wore a white traditional dress, already intricate in design, but because her character required minimal attire, she was clad only in a thin, strapless white gauze dress. The weather was mild, so she didn’t feel cold. Reclining sideways on the bed, the red canopy draped over her, concealing her form so that only the vague outline of a figure could be seen. She wore no trousers, revealing her delicate, petite feet.
Li Feng, dressed in black, with his long hair neatly arranged behind him, gazed at the figure on the bed. His heart was already pounding, yet he did not step forward; he knew they were merely acting. Even so, Li Feng was reluctant for such a beautiful Zhou Xiaoqi to be seen by others.
“Sir, I have been sent by the Third Grand Elder to serve you,” Zhou Xiaoqi quickly slipped into character, making her voice as seductive as possible.
No sooner had Zhou Xiaoqi spoken than Li Feng’s body tensed, instinctively reacting as a man. In his role, he was cold and devoid of emotion, a man who spent his days slaying demons and monsters—a person meant to be heartless and loveless. In the end, he fell in love with a woman from the demonic sect and killed her himself, unwilling to betray his mission, ultimately living out his days in lonely solitude.
Zhou Xiaoqi extended her foot from beneath the bed canopy, hooking Li Feng’s belt and pulling it away, her hand gliding up his side. As Li Feng remained unmoved, Zhou Xiaoqi suddenly drew her weapon, ready to strike. Li Feng seized her foot, dragged her off the bed, and the two began to fight.
“When did you discover me?” Zhou Xiaoqi asked, her eyes burning with anger as she stared at the merciless Li Feng (during the scene).
“I knew the moment you appeared. Did the person who sent you not tell you about my cultivation level? They dared send an unknown nobody to her death, without even preparing for the assassination. At least you could have masked your demonic aura,” Li Feng replied with a cold smile, toying with the reckless demon before him.
Seeing she couldn’t even touch the hem of his robe, Zhou Xiaoqi grew frustrated at her lack of preparation. “If you knew all along, why didn’t you expose me sooner?”
“I simply wanted to see how much skill you had. I never imagined you’d dare come out with so little. Now, I’ll send you to your death,” he replied, his icy voice as terrifying as a demon from hell.
It wasn’t until they finished that the director finally reacted. “Excellent… Excellent… Excellent… Young lady, is this your first time acting?”
Zhou Xiaoqi thought she had made a mistake and hurried to explain, “Director, no, it’s not. I often play extras. If I didn’t do well, I can redo it until you’re satisfied.”
