Chapter 108: Feng Wuliang’s Bottom Line
When Feng Wuliang rushed through the teleportation portal, his eyes were filled with sinister energy. Every guard in Yin City stood upright with a spear in hand when they saw him arrive.
Feng Wuliang quickly made his way to the city wall and stood beside the beautiful woman. She glanced at him淡ly, then gave a bitter smile.
“Three days from now, the Marquis of Clear Spring will return to Yin-Yang City.”
Feng Wuliang looked at the tens of thousands of Yin soldiers and generals standing not far beyond the city gates. Their preparations were clearly complete. They knew that the defenders within Yin-Yang City were Yin soldiers and generals, and ordinary troops would have no way to attack them. Though tens of thousands could hardly be called a vast army, the enemy had already possessed the means to annihilate East Continent City. That was something they could not afford to ignore.
“There isn’t enough time.”
The beautiful woman drew a leather whip from her waist and spoke in a cold voice.
A proud-looking young man stepped out from among the tens of thousands of Yin soldiers and generals. Holding a long spear, he looked toward the beautiful woman and Feng Wuliang atop the city wall, then pointed his weapon at the gates of Yin City.
“My name is Long Qi. If City Lord Fu opens the gates and allows us inside, it may be counted as surrender. Lay down your weapons, and you will not be killed.”
Long Qi regarded the woman on the wall coldly. Her original name was Fu Meiren. Standing beside her, Feng Wuliang stared at the shouting Long Qi below and slowly tightened his grip on his great saber, gathering his strength.
“Heh. I was wondering who it could be. So it is Long Qi of the Thirteen Dragon-Walking Guards. Why are you not living quietly in seclusion? What brings you to Yin-Yang City to make such a commotion?”
Fu Meiren looked at Long Qi coquettishly and laughed.
Long Qi’s expression shifted slightly when he heard her words—not because they had angered him, but because she had called him Long Qi of the Thirteen Dragon-Walking Guards.
The Thirteen Dragon-Walking Guards of today were no longer the carefree and unrestrained warriors they had once been. They were now the Martial Marquis’s dogs.
“The Martial Marquis has allied himself with the Barbarian King of the northwest. I hope you will recognize the situation, City Lord Fu, and avoid bringing harm to innocent civilians.”
Long Qi planted the butt of his spear into the sand, lowered his eyes, and spoke with a narrowed, smiling gaze. Though he ranked seventh among the Dragon-Walking Guards, his strength had long since entered the Foundation Establishment realm.
The Martial Marquis had always valued him more highly than his brothers. Yet Long Qi alone understood that no matter how brave and skilled he was in battle, other people saw him only as the Martial Marquis’s obedient, biting dog.
“Long Qi, the Martial Marquis has rebelled and committed treason. The royal capital will certainly dispatch troops to punish him. By aiding a tyrant, you are likely staining the name of the Thirteen Dragon-Walking Guards.”
Fu Meiren took Feng Wuliang’s hand and shook her head as she spoke to Long Qi below.
Long Qi responded with an unceasing, self-mocking laugh.
“Honor? Is honor more important than staying alive? As long as a person remains alive, there is nothing he cannot obtain. But once he dies, what use is anything given to him? Can he still hold on to it?”
After speaking, Long Qi violently shook his spear and waved toward the Yin soldiers behind him.
The Yin soldiers raised their heads one after another, their eyes vacant as they gazed at Yin City.
Seeing this, Feng Wuliang gave an order to the deputy commander beside him. The instant the deputy commander left, Long Qi commanded the archers to attack Yin City.
“Long Qi, you are determined to go down this path. Do not blame me for showing no mercy.”
Feng Wuliang looked down at Long Qi and snorted coldly.
When Long Qi saw Feng Wuliang appear, his expression froze. At first, because of the angle, he had not noticed Feng Wuliang standing beside Fu Meiren. Now that Feng Wuliang had suddenly revealed himself, Long Qi frowned, then burst into laughter.
“City Lord Feng, it has been a long time. Why are you still in Yin City? Has no one told you that Yang City has already been surrounded?”
Long Qi looked at Feng Wuliang with a sinister smile.
Feng Wuliang frowned. He did not believe Long Qi. If Yang City had truly been surrounded, someone would certainly have come to inform him. Yet no messenger had arrived.
He hesitated.
While Feng Wuliang was still wavering, the first volley of arrows from the formation behind Long Qi was already approaching Yin City. Fu Meiren condensed a barrier that blocked the rain of arrows.

Every arrow was blasted into black vapor and scattered apart as soon as it neared Yin City. Long Qi stood on the ground as though he had not seen any of it.
The situation was obvious. Aside from wasting troops and arrows, Long Qi’s method of attack could achieve nothing. Yet the commander of the Yin soldiers behind him merely watched without saying a word.
After all, the Martial Marquis had ordered Long Qi to command them for this campaign, and the fate talismans of all of them were in Long Qi’s hands. If Long Qi became displeased, he could kill every one of the tens of thousands of Yin soldiers and generals at any moment.
Feng Wuliang studied Long Qi’s expressionless face and nodded inwardly. He turned, leaped from the city wall, exchanged a glance with Fu Meiren, and sprinted toward Yang City.
When the Yin commander behind Long Qi saw Feng Wuliang retreat to Yang City, he could no longer remain still.
“General Long, Feng Wuliang has fled. Are you planning to stand there like a fool?”
The Yin commander spoke in a low voice.
Long Qi merely cast him a sidelong glance, then chuckled.
“What are you anxious about?”
He planted his spear into the sand and leaned against it, narrowing his eyes as he leisurely watched the black arrows repeatedly repelled by Fu Meiren. He paid no attention to the displeased commander standing beside him.
When Feng Wuliang returned to Yang City, he was met by corpses covering the ground. Soldiers from Yang City were constantly rushing out through the gates. At some point, the Martial Marquis’s army had already begun attacking the city.
Had Long Qi not warned him, Yang City would probably have become a wasteland like East Continent City by the time Feng Wuliang returned.
Feng Wuliang looked closely and saw that fighting on the front line were not only his deputy city lord, but also his eldest son, Feng Li. Feng Li repeatedly swung the steel saber in his hand, striking at the enemy again and again.
Yang City’s deputy city lord was battling one of the enemy’s vanguard commanders. Yet despite being merely a vanguard officer, his opponent had forced the deputy city lord steadily backward, leaving him faintly showing signs of being suppressed.
“Those who invade Yang City shall die!”
Feng Wuliang roared from atop the city wall.
The demoralized warriors of Yang City were instantly invigorated by his voice. With wild cries, they charged toward the enemy.
Feng Wuliang gripped his great saber, leaped from the gate tower, and rushed to the deputy city lord’s side, knocking the enemy vanguard commander back with a single strike.
The vanguard commander was struck hard enough to cough up blood. He glared coldly at Feng Wuliang, but Feng Wuliang had no time to concern himself with his expression. He plunged directly into the heart of the battlefield and charged toward the enemy general.
When Zhao Chang saw Feng Wuliang approaching, he leaped from his warhorse, drew his twin blades, and walked toward him with a broad grin.
As Feng Wuliang drew near, he frowned.
The Zhao Chang before him was no ordinary man. Zhao Chang, for his part, watched Feng Wuliang cautiously. Their lives and deaths would directly determine the course of the battle.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
The war drums atop Yang City’s walls thundered.
When Feng Wuliang looked over, he saw his younger son, Feng Xiaoge. Standing on a chair, the boy gripped two heavy drumsticks in both hands and struck the war drums with all his might.
Feng Wuliang gave a furious shout and raised his great saber toward Zhao Chang. True energy surged along the blade as it tore through the air with a whistling sound.
Zhao Chang crossed his twin blades and blocked the attack. When the two weapons collided, the force of their blows sent both men staggering backward.
Feng Wuliang retreated several steps, forcibly steadying himself. Before Zhao Chang could recover, he swung his great saber once more.
Zhao Chang immediately seized a soldier beside him and hurled him toward Feng Wuliang.
The soldier’s terrified eyes had barely widened before he could cry out. Feng Wuliang’s blade cleaved him in two, leaving him dead with his eyes still open.
At the same instant, Zhao Chang’s twin blades descended together, already at Feng Wuliang’s side, slashing toward him.
“Father!”
Seeing Zhao Chang gain control of Feng Wuliang, Feng Li roared and hacked his way toward them, cutting down one man after another. The deputy city lord also hurried toward Feng Wuliang.
Feng Wuliang merely grinned at Zhao Chang, who had him pinned down.

“Come on. Let’s see who is faster.”
Feng Wuliang sneered.
Zhao Chang regarded him with disdain. Of the two blades in his hands, one had been stopped above Feng Wuliang’s head by Feng Wuliang’s great saber. But the other was aimed directly at Feng Wuliang’s heart. With the slightest exertion, Feng Wuliang would certainly die.
“Feng Wuliang, have you gone mad?”
Zhao Chang stared at him.
When Feng Wuliang motioned with his eyes for Zhao Chang to look downward, Zhao Chang hesitated, then glanced beneath their bodies.
At some point, a long knife had appeared in Feng Wuliang’s hand.
The blade had already pierced through the trousers between Zhao Chang’s legs. Zhao Chang let out a shriek. After Feng Wuliang had thrown that soldier aside, the knife in the soldier’s hand had vanished. Realizing what had happened, Zhao Chang glared at Feng Wuliang in fury.
“Boom!”
Zhao Chang tried to speak, but Feng Wuliang sent him flying with a single kick.
Zhao Chang climbed to his feet. His face was furious at first, but then he began to laugh.
There were no rules against deception in war. It was precisely such battles that made combat more interesting.
No one knew what the final outcome would be. Yet it was hope for that outcome that drove people to continue fighting without end.
Zhao Chang felt around inside his robes, took out several black pills, and swallowed them. His eyes turned blood-red as he stared at Feng Wuliang.
Feng Li and the deputy city lord stood beside Feng Wuliang, watching Zhao Chang, whose appearance had become extremely strange. They were just about to intervene when Feng Wuliang stopped them with a shake of his head.
The two men looked at him in confusion.
In the next instant, Feng Wuliang spread both arms, seized Feng Li and the deputy city lord, and hurled them forcefully toward Yang City.
“Fall back and defend the city! Anyone who dares come out will be punished according to military law!”
Feng Wuliang shouted. Then he turned and walked toward the now utterly bizarre Zhao Chang.
He could feel it. Zhao Chang’s strength was rising without pause. Though it had not yet reached its peak, it had already surpassed Feng Wuliang’s own.
Feng Wuliang glanced at East Continent City behind him. All the soldiers were slowly withdrawing into the city, while he himself was surrounded on every side by enemy troops.
Zhao Chang let out a mocking laugh and slashed at him.
The great saber in Feng Wuliang’s hands gave a shrill cry before shattering outright. The web between his thumb and forefinger split open, becoming a bloody mess.
With a cry of pain, Feng Wuliang was forced to his knees. He clutched the remaining hilt, blood trickling from his mouth, yet he laughed.
Zhao Chang watched Feng Wuliang laugh and began laughing as well. Feng Wuliang lowered his head, allowing Zhao Chang to mock and ridicule him without restraint.
“Zhao Chang, do you know? I have never knelt before.”
Feng Wuliang’s voice was as cold as though it had risen from the Avici Hell. The soldiers nearby shuddered in fear.
Zhao Chang stopped laughing and looked down at Feng Wuliang with a trace of amusement.
“A true man kneels to Heaven, Earth, and his parents. You worthless scraps—what makes you think you are worthy of making me, Feng Wuliang, kneel?”
Feng Wuliang raised his head, his eyes crimson. Gritting his teeth, he tried to stand, but hundreds of spears pressed down upon his shoulders, holding him firmly in place.
Feng Wuliang stared into Zhao Chang’s eyes and smiled. Then, little by little, he forced himself upright beneath the pressure of hundreds of spears.
