Apology

Dear readers, I owe you all an apology. I, Lao Qi, sincerely ask for your forgiveness.

Recently, I was struck by a sudden bout of hypokalemia. This illness came without warning and has been truly tormenting. When it hit, I was left utterly weak, with no strength at all in my limbs. It felt no different from being completely paralyzed.

My family and friends had to carry me to the hospital, and it was they who pushed me in a wheelchair for all the tests and examinations. After being admitted, bloodwork and electrolyte analysis revealed that my potassium level had dropped to 2.3. The hospital immediately declared my condition critical, as potassium that low can easily lead to sudden death.

After several days of potassium supplementation—both through IVs and oral medication—I have finally managed to reach the lowest boundary of the normal range. In theory, replenishing potassium is not difficult, but my condition was rather severe, so the recovery has been slow. This ordeal has put me through a great deal of suffering. On the first day at the hospital, I was subjected to countless IV infusions and blood draws, pierced by more than twenty needles.

Although I still cannot get out of bed, I am now able to sit up, and my fingers have regained some strength. So, I asked my family to bring me my computer. Tonight, I will do my best to write and post a chapter. If I cannot get it out before midnight, then you'll have to wait until the Black Rock platform’s review team is back on duty in the morning for the update to go live.

I also want to thank all the readers who have been concerned about my health. Thank you for your daily messages of care and encouragement. I am deeply grateful.
