Words Upon Release

I am grateful for a nation blessed with peace and prosperity. I am thankful for this platform, which allows me to earn manuscript fees in my spare time. My thanks also go to Editor Bacon.

Tomorrow, on September 1st, the book will be launched. There will be a guaranteed five chapters, plus two regular chapters and two additional ones—nine chapters in total. To make it a round number, let’s make it ten!

Having shared the good news, I must also bring less cheerful tidings. The PK competition was unsuccessful, and I didn’t make it to Sanjiang. This, however, is entirely normal—life is full of regrets.

Of course, this is simply the nature of online literature: if you succeed, you rise; if not, you step back. So, for those who wish to pursue a career in online fiction, the opportunity is truly open. Perhaps one day, one of you will become a celebrated author with a single book. The online literature world remains transparent and fair, and I recommend submitting your work to Group Two, Editor Bacon.

As for the worldview and plot, I hope to gradually unfold them within the story itself, focusing more on narrative and character, and seeking new breakthroughs within my own style and comfort zone.

The title and synopsis are not perfunctory—absolutely not! They were carefully selected after much deliberation and many versions. The idea of the “changing of heads” is an old one. Back when Ling Shan first entered university, this concept was shared with college roommates, but at the time, my writing skills were lacking, so I dared not attempt it. Only after completing “The Banner of Venerable Souls” did I feel ready to begin.

I had expected perhaps eight or nine thousand in bookmarks, but to my surprise, it surpassed expectations, reaching thirteen thousand—which is wonderful.
