Volume 1, Chapter 28: Hypocrisy
Tao Xi nodded with a smile upon hearing Qin Sining’s words, "I shall write to the Second Miss Ran immediately."
After their exchange, the mistress and her maid walked toward their own courtyard.
Back at the Ran residence, Ran Shaoqiong was preoccupied with thoughts of Qin Songting. If she were to visit the Marquis of Yongning’s estate with great fanfare, her mother would surely find out. Yet, she was unwilling to truly let Qin Songting go. They had been betrothed to begin with; this was merely setting things right.
At the exit of the Luanfeng Gorge, several figures stood suspended in mid-air, surrounded by countless silhouettes in bone-colored robes. The air in the clearing felt stagnant, congealed and tense.
"Thank you, but I regret to say that I likely cannot go," Zhao Wuji said calmly.
Glancing over, he noticed Fang Cheng was providing guidance to Solon, likely offering some advice. Hearing the noise, Fang Cheng looked up, gave a few parting instructions, and began walking toward the group.
However, a battle between her and Leng Yue was inevitable. Neither side would hold back, and the clash between ice and space would surely be spectacular, making Wangyue feel impatient with anticipation.
Under normal circumstances, if someone were to meet the Chairman and have such a prime opportunity to distinguish themselves, they would be ecstatic, seizing the moment to showcase their talents without reservation. All the accompanying officials felt this was reasonable and expected. Yet, seeing Zhao Wuji’s distant and indifferent attitude, they were even more astonished.
Ignoring Qu Rui, who stood beside him breaking out in a cold sweat, Xiao Yang narrowed his eyes, a searing fire burning deep within his heart.
"Very well, I am satisfied. How many units does the Robot Destruction Corps currently have?" Fang Cheng asked Medusa.
After all, the enemies of Yan Yu were his own. Coupled with Yue Yingwu’s expression, he feared they had already set a trap for him. This left Huo Xinchen in a state of turmoil; he felt as though he were the only one kept in the dark, a thought that drove him to distraction.
What kind of punishment could possibly reduce an upright, strong man to such a state?
Daoist Niu shuddered violently from the force of Tang Yao’s internal energy channeled through his right hand. Uncontrollably forced back two or three meters, he retorted with a mocking tone.
That was correct—it was rote memorization. It did not matter if one lacked understanding or failed to grasp the underlying connections; as long as one could memorize it, one would neither suffer a loss nor be deceived.
I could bear it no longer and steered the white cloud immediately toward Qingyue. After a flicker of electric arcs, the cloud burst, causing Qingyue to tumble down.
Seeing that the malignant sores of evil thoughts on Wang Xueke’s body had reached the point of festering and oozing pus, it would not be long before they ruptured completely, at which point he would certainly be doomed.
She truly could not fathom why Yu Yifan would suddenly forbid her from involving herself in Zhao Xuedie’s affairs.
The landlord paused here, smacked his lips, and a complex expression crossed his face.
In truth, looking at Song’an County at this moment, there were no idle bystanders. Those who came here were all business people, and the business conducted here was nothing more than what Zhuang Siyan and the others had already witnessed.
The Black Ghost Gang? At first glance, it sounded like the name of a criminal syndicate, but then he reconsidered—that was not right. Surely this foul-mouthed Daoist couldn't be a gangster?
But given their deep friendship, having experienced life and death together countless times, it was inevitable that feelings would have blossomed between them.
Gripping his sword, Wang Zuo fixed his eyes on the black-clad biker, struggling to protect his vital points, while the black-clad biker, brandishing a pair of crescent-shaped daggers, continued his assault.
Walking over to the executive chair and sitting down, Zhan Liuyun turned on the computer and took out a USB drive. It contained the Earth Security Guardian software, which he had specifically searched for and copied onto the drive the previous night.
Ling Xiao’s footwork was fundamentally different from that of others, which put Li Yuanchong at a slight disadvantage from the start, as he was unable to make an immediate assessment.
